    Hello guys,

1km away from 4ways mall. Saw the little critter in a weed bed along side a dam. Seems to be female, as another similiar was fritiing along side this one as only males can do next to a good looking women.

Send pic to Mr (Prof) Phils Hockey

    regards,

I think that Malachite Kingfisher is the first photo I have seen from you, Swainson, which isn't crystal clear and sharp! Maybe you've pushed this a bit too hard in photoshop? Mind you, that criticism feels a bit like a club golfer telling Ernie Els that he should work on his putting!

    Hello Mike,

Agreed, but thats about as good as it gets with a Sigma lens, and that was at ISO1600 which does not help, BUT, I got the shot!!! I dont really use PS, prefer lightroom. I love crit, it motivates me. Anyway, with my new lens you will see some cracking pics coming thru. Doing a birding weekend in Bora next weekend, cant wait.

    All the best.

Have been having great fun with my new lens. Even with a 1.4 converter it delivers pin sharp images.

Walter Sisulu botanical gardens delivered on its promise of verraux's eagle, and some others.

Owen, Simon, am I correct with my "tawny flanked prinia" assumption??

This is from a novice. Using a Canon 450d and 55-250 Canon Lens. Camera set to automatic, because that's how far my knowledge stretches. Did some cropping.

    Default Laksman vir inligting

Die fotos aangeheg is vandag geneem van 'n laksman wat besig was om 'n ander voel te voer. Kan iemand my dalk meer inligting gee. Die swart voel wat gevoer word, is heelwat groter as die laksman.

I think it is a Cuckoo of sorts, my guess is Red-chested.

On 2nd thought, I'd go for a Black Cuckoo.
