    Default Sandgrouse?

First let me confess, I am not big into photography. Moreover, I am not a keen birder. I like to identify the occasional strange bird, but once it gets to the LBJ's (little brown jobs), I loose interest.

Neverheless, I took this picture of what I thought was a Namaqua Sand grouse (in the karoo). Yet I'm not sure of the identification.

A little request here, which I hope you guys won't mind.

Do you think it would be possible to identify the birds you post, please? This will really help me, as a foreigner, to extend my knowledge, but I am sure it will also be of interest to you locals as well.

    Thanks

Spent yesterday birding at a sweltering 44degC in Borakalalo, and even the heat did not put a damper on the quality birding found in this place. Was a liitle disappointed in the camp sites as they are seriously rustic, but I suppose its ok for a weekends birding.

Attached some of my captures.... Enjoy.

    Regards

Just "mouse over" the pics from Swainsons. Each pic has the bird's description as a name.

    Default Little Egret

    Hi,

I play around with my camera from time to time and am by no means an acomplished photographer, but here was a luck shot and probabally one of my favorites so far.

    hello guys,

Some of my antics yesterday afternoon. No idea what little critter the one with fluff in beak is. Simon, Owen, please help.

Sometimes I love my sigma 150-500, like yesterday, other days I just want to burn it.

    Regards,

Certainly not if Swainsons took it anywhere near his home. Also lacks the black tip to the tail in a breeding adult.

I'd probably hazard Levaillants first or Rattling Cistic, depending on habitat and call.

habitat and location should help, its colours dont seem right for levaillants, legs are not as pink, blacks not as black, reds not as red and feather edges not as outlined in as bright white as I would like

sounds like a washing powder ad
