These are the kind of pictures I expect from you buddie. I am not qualified to comment on these they are just fantastic. You have taken some amazing bird shots and IMHO compare with the best I have ever seen.

    Default Bird photos

This little guy landed on our Verandah 2 years ago. The photo has a slight blur. Was wanting to get the shot in before he flew away. Adult Pygmy Kingfisher as I understand it. Someone mentioned that it was a juvinile but its beak is already matured from grey black to orange.
    I attached the file.

Please can someone walk me through the process of adding Thumbnails singular and in groups.

By the way the photos on this thread are excellent. I need to do some practising -

    Regards

This morning at Northern farms.... what an awesome experience. Had a serious birder with us that writes everything down. Close to a 100 specie's in 2 hrs. Unreal.

The bee-eater was taken in the Seringveld conservancy

Here some pics from Bora this last weekend. The birding was tough, but the cuckoo made my weekend.

Juv Diedericks Cuckoo. This guy has been avoiding me like the plague, and then he (or she??) poses out in the open for me.

Now I really need a pic of the Giant Kingfisher....

Common as muck around here!......But I'd still love to be able to a photo of one that is half as good as yours. I have 4 lakes within 10 minutes walk, and all of them have GCGs on them. The biggest lake has about 5 or 6 pairs.

    Easter weekend on Dagama dam....

The green pigeon was shot in terribly overcast conditions. 1/80 sec, tripod, gimbal and remote release.

Also spent a morning at Nelspruit Botanical gardens which are magnificent, but the birding was a real let down.

    Regards

Hi Leon, yes it with the 200-400mm. The copy I loaded came out bad on the forum and I will upload a new version during the weekend. I am not too excited about my skills at the moment and are looking for some inspiration and drastic improvement.

After my decision not to visit Shoebill Island because its so damn expensive I kinda lost interest a bit in birding and started fooling arround with 360VR pano's. I will send you a link

I have uploaded new versions but they have been re sized automatically to a very small size loosing quality and doing injustice to these shots. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I will load on ODP and then compare.
Did upload to ODP and although the file size are larger there is not much diff in quality so I will just have to live with it8)

Just noted others are also small in size why?

    Bertie,

I'm seeing these photos as huge. Nearly filling the screen. And sharp as a pin, by the way.

I learned something last night again.

Looking at the photographs of the WFBE, one can clearly see the blue sky "running" on the edges of the beak and tree. This was caused by the noise reduction I applied together with "remove colour moire". I reprocessed the pictures without doing colour moire and problem gone.

I will load the re-processed images later today for comparison

    Hi Bertie,

The 4x4community "engine" reduces our files considerably. Not like ODP where its retained as you send it (with limitations of course)

Enjoy these 2 beauties.... Had the extreme privilage of spending the weekend at Finsbury (an upmarket trout getaway), and yes, I caught a monster in the river....

    Regards
