    Default Upington Camping

Apart from the Eiland, does anyone know of any other nice camping spots in Upington? Will also appreciate good restaurant recommendations for dinner. Thanks

Oranjerus resort. Superbly clean, with chalets and camping spots on the river.
Pieter, a good old friend, runs the restuarant and bar facilities.

Kuthula Lodge - although a bit out of town (35 km on the Olifantshoek road) but they have beautiful campsites with own ablutions and a 4x4 dune trail as well.

Some pics of Kuthula Lodge camping site & dune trail.
But I agree with Gaithsi, you have to give Sakkie se Arkie a try - if they have enough people to go on the sunset cruise - it is marvellous.

Oranjerus is tops, of as jy wil eerstehandse inligting he, bel my pa.

Oom Gatshi, is daar 'n restaurant by Sakkie se Arkie?

I agree, Kuthula is highly recommended. I enquired teh other day, a campsite is R150 for the first 2 and R25 pp thereafter and kids under 2 stay free.

The wood chalets are also very very nice, air conditioned, fully equipped, stayed there in Dec 2008, price now is R400 for first two and R50 pp extra.

Kuthula is R100 per vehicle and R25 pp. Was there a month ago and will definitely go again. Only 5 campsites and each has it's own ablution, shade and lawn. Very very nice.

You can also try the campsite on the Kgalagadi road, opposite the airport, about 10km outside Upington. Can't remember the name, but the Spitskoppe game park is just opposite the entrance.

Kuthula Lodge is excellent. Spent four nights there on our way to Mabua at end of March.
Go for campsite 1 if you can. It is the most private with the largest grassed area under a tree for your own use.

Then there's Katakoeroe. Also on the Olifantshoek road, but not as far pout of town.
