Exclamation Alta du Toit Funday 28 November Century City Jeep Track

OK, time to do something for those less fortunate than us.

Alta Du Tiot is a home for Intellectually Challenged Adults. They do great work to not only house but help the intellectually disabled to lead full lives. http://www.altacare.co.za/

The previous year the Isuzu Club hosted a 4x4 event for 20 of the people at Alta du Toit, it was a great success and everyone had a great time.

Venue has changed to Jeep track at Century City Chrysler and will take place during the Outdoor Expo to be held there.

So a show of hands please. If you are keen to come put down your names. Once I have 5 vehicles I can say for sure to Alta du Tiot that we have a go. We can have a number of other activities aswell as have old hands show people new to 4x4ing a few basic tricks. The

I have been to functions at Alta du Tiot and they are great to be around.

Biggles what do you need the volunteers for? What are the cost for entering the day?

Hi Biggles, my bro - ThysleRoux - and I are also in. I attended the IOC event last year and it was a lot of fun driving one of the guys through the obstacles, but I could've done more. I could even put my rear seat in if some people are prepared to sit a little squashed up.

    To elaborate abit more.

The day is not a fund raising event. It is a day to take some of the "clients" from Alta du Tiot (see thier web site in first post) out for a day. Basically its a treat for them. Alta du Tiot tries to do as much during the year to make like interesting and they have managed to not be a place where people are left to be forgotten about.

Apparently at the Isizu event last year the smiles were something to behold.

The people from Alta du Tiot and like children in many respects and have a short attention span. So the idea is to take then around a course a few times. They will really enjoy it even though maybe to us it might not be that exciting. The idea is to start at 10am and be finished around 12. The course will be tame. We need people to volenteer themselve and vehicle to take people around the course and someone to help with the braais and a few people on the course to make sure all goes smoothly.
Afterward we can play further on the obsticles. I will be happy to show anyone new to 4x4ing a few basic tips.
Biggles what do you need the volunteers for? What are the cost for entering the day?
Volunteers needed to take people around the course, help with food and someone to marshal. There will be staff from Alta du Toit there aswell.
Cost, I am talking to Derek about this. Maybe someone who knows Jeep4CT can appeal to his charitable side and give discount to vehicles taking people around the course At the very least it will be the normal admission fee.

Oh yes where is the event going to be held?

Sweetlips - any relation to Hot Lips Houlihan, btw?! - here are some bird's-eye views of the location. Depending on where you live in Paarl, you may want to use some of the back roads.

Would love to be there but we are up in George doing a challenge. Maybe next time if you want i could arrange a couple of pipe cars to cart the guys around. I take my hat off to you for your effort in arranging events like this. Well done. PS remember us next time.

I unfortunately have to pull out for the 28th. Van has to go to the mechanic to fix a fuelling problem. Will see if we can have it fixed by Friday.

    Hi all

Yes the day is definitely on. After seeing the post on the Jeep expo I am enquiring if we cannot maybe move it there. I have contacted the organisers of the Expo and will hear later this morning. But its definitely on. Iether at Dirt and dust or at the outdoor expo.

Can I have another show of hands how will be coming?

OK, confirmed for the Outdoor Expo at Century City/ Ratanga Junction Jeep track. We will be taking the Alta du Toit "clients" around the track from 11am on Saturday. They are opening the track in between the other events for us so depending on the number of vehicles we will make several passes through the track. Afterward Boerewors rolls and colddrinks.

This will be the perfect venue as everything is set up with a nice course. And there will be other attractions and demonstrations going on.

There will be 20 people from Alta du Toit. So we need a minimum of 5 vehicles and max of 20!! This will be an excellent day out for the family and a chance to do something good.

This is not restricted to Jeeps; and the track is not the maniac route. If anyone has enquiries they can contact me (Steve) on 083 677 0275
