Angry 2009 Triton 2.5 4x4 import suspension steering vibration problems?

    Hi

I hope that i can find an advice here.

I have a Triton 2.5 4x4 import version with 19000km on the clock. For a long time i have had a problem with vibrations (vigorous back and forth motion) on the steering wheel while driving on a rough road or hiting a small pothole on the road. The steering would move back and forth that i have to hold with both hands not to loose controll over the vehicle.

Mitsubishi service have adjusted suspension (milion times) aligment also was done so many times, replaced the shocks coz they were gone after 10000km, replace steering column which improved the feel for a while but the vibrations appeared again.

Also when driving on a bit rough road the vehicle front feels like an old bitten up car accompanied by knocking noises from the plastics on dashboard.

The car does not have that stiff smooth feel but very harsh supsension and steering it feels loose on the front like an 30 year old car.

Apparently mitsubishi can not find cure for this problem and they say that it is normal for these bakkies, but i dont trust them because the car was not like that in the first 7000-8000 km`s.

Can someone give me an idea of what could the problem be or a service non-mitsubishi that can check the suspension and steering.

Is anyone else experiencing the same with a imported 2009 tritons?Mine is just hell to drive.

Thanks i hope that someone can response and help me.
    Regards

Do they still import tritons? i thought they only imported the first ones i think in 2007? are all the new ones not localy built?

And how do you see the differance? the salesman at Mitsu told me the imported ones have orange indicators in front, and the local ones clear lenses. is this the only differance you can see?

He also told me the imported ones have a weaker chassis...

fit some decent shocks. I did and it's unbleieveably better... The stock import stuff is rubbish. I got an O7.

Import vins are MMBJ, made in thailand, and I believe DCSA's VIN range would not be beginning with MM. Unless the chassis are shipped from the thai plant.

They have exactly the same chassis .

    Local
The local one had improved suspension/damping for local conditions
Indicator stalk is on the left
Mitsubishi logo on the tail gate
    Completely clear indicator
Bottom lip middle of bumper color coded

    Imported
Pull out antenna (only 3.5 and 3.2)
No Mitsubishi logo on tail gate
    Indicator on right
    Orange indicators
Bottom lip midle of bumper not color coded /black

Thats all I can think of now

    IIRC,

there were also 2 different import specs. the 2.5's had the steel tailgate support and the 3.5 has the cable. Euro and Aus spec. There was also differences with radio head units having bluetooth and RDS.

I had the service manager's bakkie twice, it was an import and it had the euro spec, with the bee-sting et al. MIne does not.

Which of you guys have local models with MMB prefix VIN numbers?

Mitsubishi have replaced the shocks 2 months ago and it feels again like an old bitten up car on the front, and steering wheel vibrations were still present... It is getting worse day by day.

Could it be something to do with steering rack or some bushings, i just want someones opinion so i get an idea what the problem could be.

Also do you think that by investing in a good shocks would resolve my issue? What kind of shocks and where could i have them fitted?

    Thanks

Mine did exactly the same when the shocks were tired this was at +- 35 000km. I did not even bother putting in a warranty claim. I simply replaced it with a full TJM kit the difference is huge but definitely not near car like

And which shocks would be best to get, and the approx price for everything? Also can someone advice on a good fitment place that can do a good job and check my steering too?

I honestly just want that stiff feel on the car and to bring down the vibrations on the steering wheel, i know until the car had 7000-8000 km on the clock the steering wheel was smooth and no vibrations and left right movements when driving on a rough roads.

I was just reading in some forums , does mitsubishi triton have steering dumper? If it has by replacing the steering dumper would it resolve the problem with steering vibrations?

I am not coming right with my bakkie so I am going to dredge this up...AGAIN!

Steering column replaced recently, newish Gas Magnum Shocks, alignment done, wheel balancing done, just had the tie rod ends reconditioned and everything under the car checked.

STILL got serious feedback through steering, slight knock when turning from straight to right after a stop, vibration, poor bump absorption etc etc...

    AAAAARGH going mad.

By the way mine is a 4x2 clubcab 2009 but it has a Mercedes plate with the VIN on it so does that mean it's local?

My measurements for ride height are bang on average or even a bit above what others have recorded so my springs seem fine.
