    Hello Mitch

Will get all the invoices together but it was quite expensive could be done a lot cheaper if you dont look at weight I used honeycomb board, also the material could probably be halved if you take out the seats, but the whole point is for me to take out the drawers and use the car as a everyday run around and on friday afternoon pop in the drawers and go away for the weekend without the hasel of taking out seats ect.

Wish i had a scale but I am probably at 4 to 5kg per side including the drawers and sliders, still have to carpet and put the locks, handles

    Hi Skim

Good stuff!! Having taken delivery of my new Jimny last Saturdy, and thus a "Noob", excuse the potentially daft questions I've got:

    1. Are you fixing the frames at front somwhere to prevent loaded drawers tipping when fully open or would you be relying on the weight on top to keep everything on an even keel?
    2. The honecomb boards I gather are expensive but light... are they also reasonably durable? (Thinking of knocks by things with sharp corners making dings.)
    3. What board are the drawer sides made of? (8mm MDF?)

Look forward to your next post with pics

    Andre

@DieSkim7692 that looks neat! Love the indentation on the front of the right drawer to accommodate the door.
What did you use to fix the board on top and on the sides to the frame?

LRD Welcome to the site and congrats on your Jimny what a nice car, Ours is also very new only had it for a few weeks.

The plan is to fix the front of the boxes to the bottom of the seat belts with maybe a ratchet strap or something simular. I read somewere about someone that made new bolts with a ring or something for tie down. The back will be ancored at the two ancorpoints at the back door they are supposed to be points for some type of seatbelt system for a baby seat.

The board was stuck down with a marine polyurathane expanding glue made by red devil just dont get it on your hands or anyware else nothing takes it off and I had glue on my hands for nearly a week. The alu is a square tube with a lip on it so the board sits on the lip, will try and take a foto.

The honeycomb board is quite strong and will take a bit of hamering especialy with the carpet glued onto it, but will get damaged with sharp objects or heavy bumps. I will not put tools or heavy objects in the drawers guess it is a question of packing,

With a Jimny you will have to think like a biker or a hiker and pack the stuff you need and not want. That is what the trailer will be for (Will be starting on my venter type conversion to a off road trailor as soon as my boxes are done Time $$$$$$ is the problem)

Hopefully I will be able to start with the locks and carpeting tonight Swambo is complaining though says the garage is more important than her (By the way what does SWAMBO mean or stand for?)

I am making a ORERAK out of 16mm supawood. The piece of wood is big enough to make 2. Is anybody maybe looking to share the cost of the wood. For the other piece.

@DieSkim7692 that looks really really good. If I ever build a drawer for my Jimny this is what it will be modeled after.
