Eish - I ordered my Bilsteins on 17 August 2009 and to date do not have them. I had to phone Ted @ Afrishox several times for feedback (It felt like I was trying to sell him something) I had an appointment today to have them installed at last and the rear ones that is allready Bilstein serviced. On arrival I was told that they cannot help me today - that is after I drove 150km to Selby...
. I calmly decided that Bilstein will not fit on my car... OME is being imported by Suspension Solutions in Selby and I will get it from them hopefully. Does anyone know where I can get the Bilsteins I have serviced - I am afraid that I will not have a car to drive for a year if I depend on Afrishox to have it serviced...

I imported my Bilsteins from the USA (at 50% of the local price).
Afrishox were extremely bad in answering my enquiries, which made me decide to import from http://www.shocksandsprings.com/
Just finished communicating with oke from Bilstein in Germany - they are remearkably quick to respond to an internet quiry - this is their response to Ted (Hopefully he wakes up now):
Hi Ted,
Please contact this customer and let us know the actions that you have taken to make
This customer happy again.
Thank you very much for some information and best regards!

Good show! Hopefully Ted will wake up or dissappear altogether.
Don't you just hate it when people promise good service and then nothing happens? Had it twice this week with "reputable" companies. Had to seriously lose my temper and threaten them with all kinds of bad things before they changed their tune.
Why do we always have to go to extreme measures just to get normal service?
Ted has been like this for years, heaven knows how he is still in business. He certainly won't get my business ever again.
Thank you for this number I will contact him ASAP.My syncro is fitted all round with Bilsteins and the left front started leaking ,I have contacted Ted and received all the usual promises and will not ever try to support him again.
I believe that it can be serviced ,is this true ?
Regards
Andre
Have decided to remove my previous post as Bilstein Germany and Afrishox have done their best to now resolve my issue.
Shocks should be fitted tomorrow morning after special air frieght was arranged. I am glad that my initial faith in Ted and Afrishox has now been restored. Should be able to test the Bilsteins in Namibia later in the week .......
Have made sure that Ted is aware of this post as well to ensure he has the opportunity to address the negative perceptions there are out there about his company's service levels.

Well we will see, apparently my shocks are now really here and ready for installation. Going to fit them on Thursday and service the rear ones. Having mixed feelingsbut am positive that something good will happen. I am not sure if it was Bilstein Germany or what that made Ted get the shocks ready in 2 weeks where it was not possible three months before... If it was my business I would have been worried. Some people cause their own ressesion.... Nothing is however impossible and people can change.
Ja Uys, ek het ook gebel vir 'n kwotasie voor verlede week en nog niks gehoor nie...
My Bilsteins are fittedI must say amazing shocks!!
Seems Ted is struggling to get Bilsteins from Germany as we tried ordering another set for a friend, but the system shows no stock in Germany??
Many excuses - whatever, I have my shocks now and Ted is building shocks for my friend from parts, hopefully within the next weekso at least Ted is trying.
Although this is not the route I want to take everytime I want to get shocks fitted to my car.![]()
I must say Ted stepped up on my side. My Bilsteins was installed last week Thursday. I then ordered 2 shocks for a friend's Pajero and managed to pick it up on Saturday. I then gave someone else's 4 Bilsteins in for service and Ted called me this morning with feedback
. This is definetely not the way I want to get service (by contacting Germany, etc.), but it seems to have worked. He does seem to struggle to get stock out of Bilstein Germany. If he keeps up the service I have had the past 2 weeks I will definetely support him again. Thank You Ted.

Still amazing, the 4 bilsteins I gave to Ted on Saturday morning was delivered to a friend in Jhb last night; Two needing normal service and the other two some rebuilding as the tubes was damaged by rocks. Thank you again Ted for stepping up!
If Afrishox keep up with this service I would feel comfortable to refer anyone to them for servicing of Bilsteins!

On the purchase of new ones I am not yet convinced that the value chain from Germany, etc is 100% yet.
Personally I think there is a big market for Bilsteins in 4x4 as this is one a few types of shocks that can be serviced thus the total cost of ownership over the life of your vehicle is reduced significantly as far as suspension is concerned.
What do they cost on average to refurbish? Problem is when your shocks are stuffed you got to sit without a vehicle when they refurbish them unless you keep spares or something.
