    Default Jimny for a daily.

How would the Jimny be suitable as a daily ride for the family? Ie Wife, Mother and so on.

I have not driven the Jimny (yet) So I dont know if it can do a double role as full time town vehicle and weekend paw by paw. ?

In terms of comfort, how would it compare with, lets say a yaris or corolla?

what sort of fuel consumption are you guys getting in the real world?

The Jimny looks like it has the aerodynamics of a box... kind of like a range rover.. can it cruise 130-140 the whole day?

    dankie dankie

I use mine as a daily driver.
It has live axles front and back, and a high centre of gravity, so the ride and handling is very different from a Yaris or a Corolla.
    I average 9l/100km but I've got a heavy foot.
I drove from Jhb to Cape and back, 4 up with a roof box fully loaded, and was able to maintain 130+. (Consumption 8.9l/100km for the trip)

A word of warning. If you buy it for the wife to drive during the week, she's not going to let you drive it on the weekends.

Another thing, can it tow? Ideally a motorcycle trailer with 2 off-roads on it?

Fuel consumption is not bad hey... wow.

Was that with the AC on?

Towing is fine, towed a small fiberglass trailer (probably the weight of a trailer and 2 offroads) ... it does well, one has to work the gears and the fuel consumption drops alot. but you can.

also average about 11km/l in town and have got to 15.8km/l on the long road with out a roofbox driving at 118km/h with alot of stuff in the car. Usually average about 13-14km/l on the open road.

Default Jimny as a daily ride

I've had mine a year now, great fun,not really great with 4 up though, a bit cramped. My daughter, visiting from UK, stole it for a trip from Plett to the Cape and back via the wine region.Wants to take it back with her.Fuel consumption is ok,ride a bit choppy unless you have something in the back.Easy to maintain 130 on the roads.Play with tyre pressures to find what suits your drive. One of those cars that puts a smile on your face when you drive. Can't keep my wife out of it...

Steve mine is used as my daily ride, AND I ride out to sites regularly.

The Jimny is most comfortable at a true 110km/h. You can do a trip at 130km/h, but then you need to pay attention, bumps in the road and cross winds become an issue. Last week I had to do 130+ in STRONG cross winds, was scary but do-able.

The trade off is that where you would park the "cars", is where the FUN starts in the JIMNY !! It is so much fun off road that I realy dont mind driving a bit slower on the freeways.

TIRE PRESSURES !! If the tire pressures are too high the Jimny is a handfull to drive. Make sure you stay within the recommended pressures.

As long as you don't plan to have more than 2 people in it for extended periods it should be fine. Car for your wife.. perfect (as you get to enjoy it over weekends - its like buying your wife the fishing rod you always wanted!)

I have not driven the Jimny (yet) So I dont know if it can do a double role as full time town vehicle and weekend paw by paw. ?

Fablulous in town, and perfect weekend vehicle, keep in mind the limited space though.. Go test drive one - NOW!

In terms of comfort, how would it compare with, lets say a yaris or corolla?

I dont think you should compare it with these vehicles. The ride is more bouncy than a sedan, but much less than one expects! Read the Car road test on it. They refer to "the smile factor" which is very true. The car has a lot of caracter, and besides - I don't know of anybody who gets very excited when they go for a drive in a Yaris.

what sort of fuel consumption are you guys getting in the real world?

    I get 11-12 km/l

The Jimny looks like it has the aerodynamics of a box... kind of like a range rover.. can it cruise 130-140 the whole day?

You can, but the rev's run slightly high. I do 130 km/h on the open road, and id doesn't feel like I am pushing it hard.

    dankie dankie

It was December, so I drove with air-con on most of the time.

Moet net nie almal gekyk probeer inkom nie. Dit sal nogal sukkel

    Default Jmny Ar

Ek het nou my Jimny 4maande. Ek het voorheen 'n Jeep Wrangler gehad. Ek ry elke dag met my Jimny. Ek geniet hom 24/7. Ek het groter bande op gesit en ja ek het hom by die Parow tak gekoop met 'n paar ekstras. Baie goeie diens gekry.

Ons het ook 'n nuwe C/Klas, maar my vrou kan hom maar ry. Ek ry die Jimny. Ek is ook 'n Biker. So erg dat my motorfiets in my sitkamer staan.

My nuwe liefde is nie my Harley of Merc nie maar hierdie wonderlike nuts voertuig!

Kom ek demo vir jou my Jimny. Jy sal nooit weer dieselfde wees nie meneer.

Die uitnodiging staan. Kontak my gerus.
