This is a huge photo for a huge Jeep, it was taken with a Cannon D20 if you right click on the photo and go to properties it will tell you what camera was used and a few other things, interesting hey.
Hey Jeepster you have a cool looking machine there, nice colour do you have any mods done to it, I do not know these vehicles too much, however give us some more specs on your vehicle, engine size, diffs etc
Hennops (Winter) I still stomp in mud puddles!
Stock standard is except 245/70/16 tyres as it is also my daily transport. Sorry for photo quality - cellpphone picture only.

And sadly.. this was my previous ride. I had to sell cause "Kaas" would not have been very comfortable for 6000km to Mozambique and back!

Tactix 4x4 course at uitkyk Wine Estate. Also did this course and found it very informative.
One thing though we were told that after having done the course you can get a rebate on your vehicle insurance.
Phoned a couple of brokers and the answers were all negative.
Boss and I still had an argument about this on the previous forum. Boss was right.

Luckily the company paid for this training with the company vehicles. I took my Jeep along so I can see what the little Jeep can do, was quite impressive.

Definitely can agree there FB! It was also very informative! We also saw how the company bakkies fared with their normal road tyres in some slippery clay... Not very good, and my Jeep with road tyres only a little better. Definitely have tyres high on my priority list now!!Originally Posted by FB

We did the course with Firestone MTX tyres and the stone trail actually damaged the one sidewall.
Bartho has his own ideas about tyres but I toured Lesotho from one side to the other with BF's and could still get another 40k out of them.
My next set will be Cooper MTR's Bartho
Edit. I do not know why I am posting on the Jeep threads![]()

Hi Snoopy
Yes you are correct, they are Mickey Thompson baja claws rubber, 8)mounted on Mickey Thompson classic 2 rims as well, excellent side wall protection as well as the grip factor, when climbing rocks, these side walls help to grip and even give that extra traction, awesome tires, there are not many imported tires that will out perform these ones, 8)
we even have a set of 35's x 1550 x 15" fitted to the Hilux 4x4, then a spare set of five 33" x 1250 x 15" baja claws up in the loft just letting the rubber cure, I might buy them from Ronny when my Bridgestone muds wear out, then there is also a set of 31" x 1050 x 15" baja claws that were first fitted to the Jeep, but we removed them as we found them toooo small, got them mounted on a spare set of classic 2 rims as well, have used them on Ronny's 2.8 Diesel Hilux a few times off-road.
Tires play a big part with 4x4ing, we have seen many times how one type of vehicle out performs another just because the tires are different.
Hi FB will you please explain to me what are these Firestone MTX Tyres, are they mud terrain something?
I know that Firestone make a ATX Tyre? Which stands for All Terrain Something. Maybe the X means Cross ply
Thank's
Sorry
You are quite correct. They are in fact ATX tyres.
Not bad in sand but not very good on rock and in mud![]()
