    Default Finally, the full picture!

I have always had an issue with any published tyre size calculator, as it usually omits important dynamic parameters from the equation. These were:
    • effect of tyre pressure on footprint
    • rolling dameter vs speed
    • load rating, and how this is related to sidewall flexibility, again determining "deflatibility" for sand driving
I've received the link to the tyre calculator below from a correspondent from Australia, and I have never seen such detail put into a tyre calculator, especially the inclusion of the effect of dynamic parameters.

You can e.g. input tyre pressure and vehicle speed into the equation to see the effect this has on footprint.

A lot of other good stuff is in there as well, and I hope that this would answer many questions re this issue.

Default Tyre Sizes for LR Discovery 3

Hi Guys, I hear different things from different people and calculators,
What Tyre sizes can I run on the Land Rover Discovery 3? Standard size is usually 255/55/18 on the 18" rims, can I run 235/55/18? What's the smallest you can run?

    Default

    2 x 255 x .55 + 25.4 x 18 = 737mm diam

    2 x 235 x .55 + 24.5 x 18 = 715 mm diam

You speedo wil be even further wrong.

If you want 235's then try to increase the ratio off 55 to 65 maybe ?

I have much confusion, and Im hoping that you more knowledgeable folks can help me with this.

    I currently have 255x70 R18, and I want to move to 17".

I see that the Coopers at 255x75 R17 will give me the same (according to the calculator on Errols), but there are none available.

Errols tell me that going to 265x70 R17 will give me a differential of -11mm and considers it not ok.

    If I go here
    http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-...0R17/265-70R17
Then they tell me that the difference is 1.42% and acceptible.

Please can you demistify this for me.

    Thanks

I know that you can get the oversize tyre for the 15" but not for 16", unless the 265/75 is the oversize?

I am offcourse worried that it would rub against the mud flaps, or side skirts....

If you have any advice please help me!!

I fitted 265/75/16 Coopers to my 2013 Ranger without a problem. The speedo is now accurate.

    Hi guys,
I bought a 2012 Ford Ranger and really want to change my rims from the standard 17" rims to Black Rhino Imperial (also 17") - My question is, what do I do with the old rims then? Is there places who would buy it from me (I'm based in Cape Town), or should I just advertise on Gumtree? Also, what would you suggest as a selling price, as I can't find any online?
Your guidance would be greatly appreciated

    Morning.
I have a question relating to a tyre change for my 2018 hilux Dakar. I’d like to replace my original 265/60/18s with BF KO 2, 285/60/18,s
will this extra width catch on the inside wall of the wheel well on full lock. Has anyone change their tyres to this configuration? Thanks in advance.
