Anybody want to buy a Honda Accord Tourer 2.4 Exec with all bells and whistles? Calculated at R 259416.
Phoned Honda Trade: 240k Retail 255k.

When I go anywhere I cannot get more than 130k. Hell what a disappointment.

I think these retail site calculators are broken, Its calculated my BMW at R280K, I paid R118K for it, although seriously under value due to massive dealer error, there's no way its R280K.

Looking at what they sell for on Autotrader, R130k seems about right. You did not specify year model or kilometers, so I am assuming 2011-2013? Hell, at that price I might just be interested.

Buy a Lexus sedan and then try to trade it in or, sell it. You will get even less. If pepole think Honds or Volvos have bad trade-ins, just try a Lexus!
My Lexus IS 250 cost over R 400 000 when I bought it. 3 years later I could not get more that R130 K for it for a new Lexus! - and it had 80K on the clock!

I have 3 Defenders, they keep their value the best. VW Caravelle is second in line. They sell quick and you do loose, but not nearly as much as other car types, and they sell quick, other than that there is no luxury brand that can really be singled out as the worst because they are all horrible.

So what do you do?, you buy them second hand.

Exactly. I have had my 2002 Defender for nearly fourteen years, and I can get significantly more for it now than when I bought it in 2004.
And except for replacing the clutch assembly ( only because the spigot bush needed to be replaced) and all the rubber piping - because I chose to do so - the Landy has cost me nothing in repairs.

The recent increase in the Land Rover Defenderís advertised price is artificial.

Used Land Rover Defenderís that actually sell for their advertised price are minuscule. It is a niche vehicle that appeals to a very small demographic group in the used market.

That is true in some instances, but most of our cars are still worth more than what we bought them at (mainly if you bought second hand and/or private). If you do loose, it might be 50-100k in 5 years, older cars gained that in value. No other car will loose so little value, most SUV looses between 100 and 150k per year.
