Thanks, good one Biggles, now I know that I have to keep my old Jammy. Can't sell or trade in, replacement cost for the same value to high.

Looks like it was not meant to be public in the first place.

I'm certainly no expert, but the valuations appear rather optimistic to me...

Maybe someone like Imvubu with access to the real 'book values" can shed more light?

Your 2009 MITSUBISHI TRITON 3.2 DI-D D/CAB 4X4 with a mileage of 18000km has an estimated book value of:

    R376,838

The estimated trade in value of your car is between:
    R304,297 - R336,328

The estimated retail value of your car is:
    R411,696 - R455,032

    This one cant be right?!!!?

That site (www.bookvalue.co.za) is very optimistic (see below). The corsa example (scored 9 out of 10 for condition) was bought brand new in 2007 for R156 000, how can the current retail be roughly the same? Suggests that after driving for 73000km i can get back what i paid for it... Suspicious. From my research (contemplating selling corsa utility to finance a 4x4) retail price for this mileage and condition is R115-125k and trade-in from various dealers is from R90-95k.

Your 2007 OPEL CORSA UTILITY 1.8 SPORT with a mileage of 73000km has an estimated book value of:

    R131,873

The estimated trade in value of your car is between:
    R106,488 - R117,697

The estimated retail value of your car is:
    R144,072 - R159,237

Anyone who is in the know, where does this site get its info from?

I just looked at this now for the first time.

Tested it against a few vehicles that friends and I have recently looked to trade in and it seems about spot on. I was not asked for a password.

    So, BTTT

I just checked the site as I'm looking to trade my Polo for a ClubCab. The figures look accurate, based on the value I got from Baron's N1 City, and taking into account the site does not ask for mileage information.

    Thanks Biggles
