Thumbs up End of Year Function

How about a end of year GTG. I would suggest a small spit (I have a 12v/220v unit that can swing a small pig/sheep/hind Quater feeding up to 25 to 30 people if necessary)
We don't even have to go to a 4x4 venue but need to go somewhere central.
Suggestions or comments welcome. What date? (late November??)
We need to HELP our "ghost" members to come along

    Venue & Comment

Kleinkrans, If wind blows can be sandy. Great views of the ocean as far as MosselBay

Ebb & Flow in Wilderniss, Central, great place, no 4x4

Eagles Falls, A bit out of the way, great place, playpit & 4x4

"End of Tear Function" hey Dave I know its sad when year end comes along, but you don't need to shed a tear

Depending on the timing perhaps I could plan a business trip to coincide with your GTG.

Aaah, we have life, Rob, it will be great to tie up with you. Wulfe, what time of the month best suites you ? We can do it either the weekend of 21/22 or 28/29. If we arrange for the 21st and the weather turns foul, it can always be postponed for a week if necessary.

PS. Lepogo has suggested a BIG Southern Cape GTG early (+-March) next year, I think it's a great idea and suggestions are also open. Gerhard has done some research on the Forum and there are plenty members in the Southern Cape we have not ever heard from, this will be a BIG push.

Kleinkrantz sounds good as(hopefully) summer will be with us by that time and then we'll need the wind.
We'll also have to do this before all the valies are here -- maybe we should wait for them

I,m watching you! Unfortunately in my business weekends are the busiest and having staff knock off at five, I have to be here. I will, in any how, do my best to attend, even if it only to say Hi. Kleinkrans is lekker near as well!

Danie, the idea is a sleep over for those that want to at not too great an expense, hence nearby/central. You are welcome to join in from 5.30/6.00 etc even if you don't sleep over. I believe(hope) that we can make a success of it and follow up early next year on Gerhards idea. Kom ons kry n bietjie gees in die Suid Kaap Forum. Our first GTG was an outstanding sucess nearly a year ago and the area has really put some good friendships together, the more the merrier.

The weekend of the 21st works for me and as you said we could always move out if weather turns out foul. Current planning is to fly back around the 30th so we should be good with either. Haven't been to Kleinkrantz but from the photos it looks like as good a place as any and the sand will do some good getting the Defender some exercise.

Sounds good Dave. I suggest that we look at Louvain for a possible GTG... maybe next year's one.

Ok, lets make it Lovain for early next year (March) we can arrange to use the MTO Forestry pass back over the mountain. I have had a PM and have been asked (suggested) that we use Vleesbaai for the end of year function, any comments as I have never been there. Whats available with regards to camping and over nighting? This to me is also getting away from the "central" areas, it becomes quite far for the Knysna and Plet guys (take note you lot, we are coming to fetch you !!) Seebeedee would also like to pull his caravan to wherever, ..........

    Two things about Vlees baai:
    1. Very nice campsite and the track is not very difficult accept for the last dune that might be a challange for some people... not so much the cars.
    2. Vlees baai route is R 250 / vehicle day rate but I don't know the over night rates.... All I'm saying is that it might be a wee bit pricy

I agree with Reinier and many people have been complaining about Vleesbaai's rates.
Who was your pm from? We'll convince him/her !!!
Vleesbaai is not a challenge and one cannot pay R250 for one dune.

Let's get some more suggestions !!

DanieG wat is naby jou - dan kan ons die plett-manne ook betrek alhoewel die meeste lede in George bly.

Dave , is the date set ?? (28/11 is closer to month-end)

Die naaste is Kleinkranz, ongeveer 30 km van hier. As ons dit kan maak voor Desember, kan almal hier kom kamp, ek sal die staanplekkoste uitlaat en dan net die per kop koste van R50 per nag vra sou julle wil.

No set date as yet. My suggestion is Kleinkrans, 21/22nd. This is still open and only my suggestion. From the last two posts lets then drop Vleesbaai altogether. There is also still Eagles Falls, which has grassed campsites, electricity and a small 4x4 route with a play pit.
Sorry Danie, just seen your post (mine was written but not posted) sounds good to me. The idea is a GTG not necessarily the 4x4 thing.
