    Default Maputo Lodging

    Hi
I would like to spend a weekend in Maputo, any advice on self catering accomodation would be handy. We are not to fussy but would like to stay in a clean quiet spot. What is the situation regards malaria in Maputo at this time of year?

    Good morning,

    Go to the following site:http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguid...to_vacations-i

Be advised that the Polana, Holiday Inn & Avenida are the most expensive hotels in Maputo.

The Cardosa is the best at price & security & is above the harbour overlooking it & government town.

Although it is cooler now still be mindful of malaria.

I have worked in all these hotels & they purely cater for overseas tourist thus dollar & pounds.

    Really enjoy it now.

We normally fall down at the Mozaika Guesthouse in Maputo .
Its not self catering per se , but you can get just a room .
    We paid about 400ZAR p/p/sharing .
Nice and neat , nice pool , secure off street parking with security , critical in Maputo . http://www.mozaika.co.mz/

I havent come across any self catering places , such as lodges , what about places out of town , just up the coast ?

Personally if I dont want to spend alot in maputo i would travel to marracuene jump onto the ferry with my car and proceed to macaneta.

Total 30km north of maputo on the xai-xai road EN1

there is a decent self catering place there called tan n' biki details on www.wheretostay.co.za its cheap and clean with plenty to do in the area.
