Rakops river lodge

Hi all

Has anyone been to Rakops river lodge? Worth it?

Got a space there as an overnight spot up to the Delta.

Its functional, would probably avoid on a weekend and definitely avoid on public holiday weekend. Restaurant closes very early - around 6 for last orders

It has improved greatly. There is a bar and a new pool area. For just overnighting I would just choose a room, I think it’s around P650 per room or family room with 3 beds at P1000. But camping is still great.

Rakops River lodge is not any closer to the River. It’s just a name. It’s far from the river…Family room is fine, closer to the camp pool area and reception.

From the Google image it looks to be right at the river.

You will not see the river. It is not on the riverbank.

Which, for the Boteti, is a good thing because it dry mostly and also filled with cattle wearing cow bells, donkeys and goats.

That Map is for the PLOT. The lodge is right in the middle. No room is closer to thee far end of the plot. All rooms are just in the center. There is no room with a river view ..

Came back via Rakops River Lodge last week,
The rooms are closer to the highway, not that it worried us. We got a family room for four, and did our own meals as we were well supplied and were camping in the delta.

We did not go and look at the camping options.

It was clean and sufficient. We did need to ask for towels as they only left two in the room, clean ones were pretty promptly supplied along with the wifi code - important for the teenagers.

Will keep it on the list for another visit if the need arises.

We did get fuel at the Petro Hyper next to the main road twice, just don't bargain on their compressor working to do the tyres.
