Default Marius's Porsche Cayenne life thread

Ok.. In the VW section as the cayenne is a touareg in an Armani suit.

So the realisation of a ten year dream came true yesterday

I signed for a cayenne yesterday

    2012
    164k kms
    V6 tdi
    Steel suspension with pasm

    Rest is basic spec

    No auto tailgate
    No auto dim rear mirror
    No heated seats

Not much bothered. Its still special.

The swaybar bushes need replacing but the dealer will sort that sometime next week.

The battery I think is end of life as the stop start is not working. Not really worried about the stop start. I hate it

The brake switch on the pedal is adjusted too sensitive, ill sort that DIY

No oil leaks. Not a drip.

Pretty special car. Its silly fast.

About 20% more economical than the pajero. Yes, really that much.

Easy sub 8l/100km if you keep it below the speed limit, which is hard to do. Lucklily my speeding days are over. I got old, and witnessing a terrible accident about two months ago that has rattled me.

Typical Porsche that is not bothered with economy, you can only see the economy three sub menus down. Not readily available on the dash screens.

Financed in full. The pajero sale funds will go in a porsche kitty that will hopefully not be needed.

On the to-do list. Diff and transfer case oil changes. Last service has a Porsche stamp, so for the first time I wont do a service after buying. Ill do the gearbox after that.

I also want to investigate getting a proper dipstick.

I feel proper lucky. Dont think it sunk in yet.

I dare say, your profile pic now needs an update.

Looking forward to your ideas and improvements.

    Marius,
I still look back at my Porsche every time I walk away from it. Enjoy that special feeling.
Why install a dipstick? The oil level is always available on screen in the menu, even while driving (don't ask me how that is possible).
I de-selected all the active screens except for the engine vital statistics screen and the trip computer screen. So, I simply roll my right thumb to toggle between those two screens.
If you are going to keep the Porsche head unit, then I suppose you'll want to keep the phone screen active as well.
How do you play music on your radio? Do you have an Aux port?
Maybe the previous owner had the auto start deactivated. Do you get a message on screen that tells you why it doesn't auto start? Those batteries are not cheap. But, a new battery does buy a lot of piece of mind. I replaced mine for no real reason other than I had no knowledge of the previous ones' age.
Do you have a service center earmarked, or are you going to DIY?

    Yes theres an aux port.

Will have to play with radio and dig up old cd collection or power up an old phone and load music for the aux port

No message on startup about stop-start. Stop-start button just ha e the red light all the time. Doesnt bother me. I hate stop start.

It has to be serviced by rmi approved shop to keep warranty alive.

Once warranty expires, I will DIY.

    Thanks for the well wishes

Veels, dis 'n baie begeerlike mousterkar!

    Baie gerieflike cruiser.
