    Default Dream Overland vehicle build by JME Developments

    Delivered this incredible vehicle to a client and fellow forum member who flew in from New Zealand over the weekend.
    This was his dream build overland and touring vehicle.

    This is an overview of what all we did.


    • 2024 Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 automatic 4x4 XC legend
    • Averey Denison wrap in Toyota Khaki
    • Power Brake upgrade
    • Tough Dog suspension upgrade with additional air helpers in the rear
    • Alucab Khaya camper Basic
    • Alucab roof box with Max Trax bracket
    • 80L water
    • additional 80L long range tank
    • fitted Stonehill seat covers, transmission cover and dash cover
    • Wildog front bumper


    The interior of the Khaya was custom designed and fabricated by us according to the clients needs, includes:
    • Combination of storage cubbies with canvas bags and drawers
    • Countertop is Tidewater Cypress
    • Pull out desk is a Kiaat board that is removable as a cutting board
    • Seating bench can be reconfigured to create an extra sleeping platform
    • Engel 80L upright fridge
    • In the passenger gullwing side (kitchen area) we designed and installed a modular shelf system that can be adjusted in height and each shelf's depth can be adjusted
    • Designed and fitted a drop-down table
    • Installed a 220V power point from the inverter for easy use of the Induction stove
    • Fabricated and fitted Molle plates in all the driver side gullwings


    The battery system also designed and installed by us according to the BS7671 standard
    • 24V - 230Ah Adventure-X lithium battery in a slimline enclosure
    • Victron Cerbo GX system
    • Mopeka bluetooth Sonar water tank level sensors connected to the Cerbo system
    • Victron MPPT 150-35
    • Victron Orion 12-24 18A DC Charger
    • Victron 24-12 DC converter to give us additional option of 12V outputs for components we couldn't get rated to 24V
    • Victron Multiplus II 24-3000 inverter and charger
    • 600W of solar mounted to the roof
    • Installed a combination of USB QC4.0 and USB-C points
    • National Luna dual white and red LEDs fitted throughout the Khaya


    The extra cab area of the Hilux:
    • Installed a Hexa board floor to get a level platform
    • Fitted and additional 40L fridge
    • Fitted a shelving system behind the driver seat to house soft pack items and Wilddog4x4 12T recovery kit
    • Fitted an ARB Twin compressor

    Yes can be fitted to the canopy camper - slight change is the space over the wheel arch that you loose but you gain a lot more width with the canopy camper compared to the Khaya.

    We are currently busy finishing off a canopy camper design for someone, although a lot more basic setup than this.

    Owner leaves on Sunday for I think 4 or 5 weeks across the country starting up in Pafuri, down to Drakensburg, then through Eastern cape to Addo and Mountain Zebra. Going to be a good shakedown trip.

    I am personally not one for videos but a friend asked to do a walkaround video of the Hilux build we did.
    Gives some different perspective on the details that photo maybe don't get across.
