It’s time to travel now. Roads passable. Use your discretion when you come across a puddle.

Even after yesterday's rainfall? The zebras are slowly coming back to Boteti River. I guess the pans are drying.....

I don't think it is done. I am following the rain in Namibia and more rain predicted for the next 2 weeks.

Two sets of friends are currently traveling in Namibia with caravans, they want to go up to Epupa and the Kunene. I am hoping for the best for them, but am doubtful. Also checking road updates on DriveNam facebook to help keep them up to date.

It is probably the same system causing rain in both Namibia and Botswana.

    TRUE....
My worry is the rising malaria cases locally, with Okavango region registering over 1200 confirmed cases this week. Hopefully people take great decisions pre to travelling and during travelling.

Hi again Pat, thanks for the additional posts on the rain situation. Been following closely ahead of our departure on Thursday 10th!

We got our campsite changed last week to "Reserve Old 4" & hoping it's a good site 🤞🏻

Another question please........where do we find the Khwai Community Office in the village to do our check-in & do we need to also check in on arrival at Magotho? 🤔

There is a Staff Village, where you can do the check in on arrival. Coming from Maun, just drive along the riverfront, pass campsite 1 to 3, and you will see the sign, indicating WHERE the staff village is. They will check you vouchers and show you, your booked Campsite.

Thank you SO much for all your help, really appreciate it hugely.

Can we also fill our caravan water tank up at the staff village too?

NO, the water is not for drinking. It's from the borehole but a bit colored. Your choice is to fill up in Maun or in Khwai village, BUT sometimes its has lot of chlorine.

Great to know, good for water quality in the tank. I recommend boil water in the evening and keep it overnight in the kettle to "sit". You won't be smelling the clorine anymore the next morning and can boil a nice cuppa.

Spent last week in 3rd Bridge and Magotho.

Try to get high DEET mozzie repellent. That with longs and long sleeves will help. Locally sold anti mozzie spray from Maun did not do much. Tabbard partially effective. 50% DEET sourced outside of RSA worked best.

Heading to CKGR in a week entering via Matswere gate by way of Rakops and traversing Passarge Valley on our way towards Tsau Gate where we’ll exit and head back up towards Maun. Has anyone done this route (or parts of it recently) than can provide a report on how wet it is given the recent rains?

My clients have just entered through Tsau gate yesterday and will be out in two days and heading to Ghanzi and will give me a full update and will update here. Seems OK as I called DWNP before they left and was given a green light. Will give a full update in two days …
