Default T4A Namibia and Botswana with Garmin 700i

We are going to buy a Garmin Montana 700i for our 11 week trip in Namibia and Botswana. I have seen posts that Garmin is no longer supporting Basecamp or Birdseye. I have used a Garmin 650 in the past. Just checking if there is anything new I should be aware of. Thanks

My understanding is that Garmin disbanded the Basecamp development team years ago. They re assembled a while back to fix a few bugs and disbanded again - so don't expect program updates anytime soon. Basecamp continues to run just fine on Windows computers.

Garmin still offers BaseCamp support (advice \ help)

I'm pretty sure BaseCamp will directly support (plug in & BaseCamp recognises it) your 700i but even you use a model that isn't directly supported, you can export the required GPX files from BaseCamp and transfer them manually to the device.
