Purchasing a 4x4 from someone who immigrated

I'm hoping someone with some experience on this can help. I have a 2021 Fortuner 2.4 4x2 which I have an offer on from we buy cars. I have found a 2.4 4x4 of the same year. But the owner has already immigrated and there is finance owing on it with Toyota Finance. The vehicle is in storage with a relative. I spoke to a guy that handles change of ownership etc. And he said I have to have the NATIS Certificate/logbook and a copy of his ID for change of ownership. I phoned Toyota Finance and they said the logbook will get sent to him if I settle the car with them. How can I pay for this and ensure I do not get scammed?
