Default Road from Komatipoort to Legogo

    Hey all

We are traveling from Komatipoort to Legogo in December will I be able to do this route in a standard 4wd SUV with low profile tyres?

There will be 2 x 4x4 bakkies going with aswel.

The last section leading into Legogo heading up the dune can very soft and bumpy as it gets spun out.

Not sure what SUV you are talking about, but you will struggle I think with something like an X5 or Q5.

Haven't been there for a few years so not sure if improved

Depends on the SUV….. my Discovery is a SUV and I tow my boat to Legogo…

We have found that it is faster to go all the way to the Inhambane/Maxixe split. Have a vetkoek by the Anti at St Antonios. Take the road to Inhambane and then the turn off to Jangamo.

The “shortcut” is pretty overgrown and will scratch your car.

Before the final dune by the lake, deflate to no more than 1.2 they actually recommend 0.8 Remember to turn off the traction control ! The path up to Oyster bay’s gate is actually steeper than the one to Legogo.

Go have a beer at Bills place….Sol de Ligogo just down the beach. And an easy exit from the beach if you can not get up the path at Legogo or Oyster bay.

Thanks for all the help!! Im going with an X7 it does have air suspension so I can lift it 40mm.

Im looking at fitting smaller Rims and AT tyres 305/50 R20 that I can deflate but it's a huge cost

Not sure if it will be worth the money to get other rims and tires.....

Rather get a good recovery kit, some sand ladders, ask your buddies to give you a hand if you do get stuck.
They usually have palm leaves packed on the steeper part of the path just after the lake. You should be fine.

    Just relax and enjoy Moz

Don't waste your money on other tyres, especially for such limited use. We go up twice a year to Casa 21,sometimes straight up the dune and other times on the Oyster Bay route which is a little steeper but the surface is better with old thatch etc where necessary.
To play safe just let one of the 4x4's go in front of you so it's then easy to give you a short tow if needed.
