That is interesting. They must be prevalent in the less urban areas than where I visited.

I also checked quickly, and in Australia, they sold 1.6 million 4x4s over the last ten years, so the Aussie market for 4x4s is also huge. It would be interesting to compare the total number of 4x4s sold in the two regions per year. I had a quick look but could not see anything for the Middle East. I see you mention 12000 for LC for Aus.

In the interest of transparency, I must disclose that my real name is Anakin Skywalker. I hail from the planet Tatooine. When I am not piloting my Imperial Class Destroyer, a magnificent vessel that perfectly complements my malignant narcissism, I drive a Nissan Patrol, a Japanese automobile from Planet Earth that certainly grounds me in many, many ways.

According to this info video it will be even bigger than the Y62.

    Where will this inflation end?

Gone are the days of 'hardcore' Patrols.
I will just have to maintain what I have for as long as terrain tamer etc. make spares for them.

    Etc.
They are built for what their biggest market wants from the vehicle.

Same for the Defender and LC300.

Its still very nice! But yes I agree the Y61 was the last real Patrol. One of the reasons I got one even though I could buy a Y62 at the time.

I think the US market is probably also on their radar. They sell it as the Armada there.

That is Nissan only. Still interesting.

I was in the UAE 2017, long time ago but then already you would easily see 50+ Y62 Patrols per day. I don't think I've seen 50 Y62's in SA.

The sad reality is all patrols are good vehicles, but Toyota outsell them in SA. The Y61 4.8 out performed the LC 4.5 petrol on power, performance and fuel use. the Y62 with its NA5.6 V8 out performed the LC200 4.5 V8 Diesel (The Aussie test pulling a caravan proved that) now Nissan has a NEW Y63 with a 3.5twin turbo V6 to compete with the LC 300 3.3 Turbo V6, but guess what, Toyota will sell many times more

It's not sad it's good news because you don't have to pay Toyota tax for the same or better vehicle. Let them carry on pushing up Toyota prices for no reason.

I sold my Y61 for 100k more than I paid for it 2 years later after adding 40k km to the clock. So I also dont buy the Toyota keeps it value better story. It was the first and only vehicle where I made money on a vehicle instead of losing money. Granted, I did buy it when the fuel prices were crazy, and that helped to get a very good deal as gas guzzlers were not selling at the time but I also knew fuel prices would not stay that high.
