Not this or the current one does it for me, the older "Wagon" does though!

    Great appearance well done Nissan.

However, completely useless for the applications we are looking for here in Africa, where bush travel and camping is an issue.

But given the fact that the price tag would reflect the clientele, most likely it is not meant for the purpose

Very purty vehicles. But as I have mentioned several times before, I do not really see them as Patrols. In the same way I do not see the Pretender as a Defender. Or a LC300 as a Cruiser.

All examples are, I am sure, fantastic vehicles. But there is an identity associated with the older vehicles one just does not get on the newer models.

That, and I would not feel comfortable taking a ZAR2-bar vehicle into the bush. Even if I could afford one.

I'm pretty sure that the UAE, Saudi, etc. will disagree with you.

They cater the Patrols to those markets and pick up scraps in the rest of the world.

They are built for the dunes.

I do not believe they are built for the bushveld.

I do not believe they are built for rocky steps.

I think the Aus market is bigger than the middle east. Long distance open road hauling big caravans in comfort. They love their Patrols.

In the interest of transparency, I must disclose that my real name is Anakin Skywalker. I hail from the planet Tatooine. When I am not piloting my Imperial Class Destroyer, a magnificent vessel that perfectly complements my malignant narcissism, I drive a Nissan Patrol, a Japanese automobile from Planet Earth that certainly grounds me in many, many ways.

For my own safety: Is it a SUV or a wagon?

Not even close, the Middle East market is huge for Patrols compared to anywhere else.

Aus suffers from the same Toyota mania as SA.

Friend of mine were on a dune trip in the UAE few months ago. The tour guide took them on the trip in his V8 Patrol. Being a Toyota 200 Series owner he asked the Patrol guide why a Patrol. The answer were Patrol is a race horse, Land Cruiser is a donkey. There you have it

We should dig up some stats. And I was referring to the total size of the Aus market and not just current Patrol sales. Aussies are 4x4 mal.

I've been to Saudi, Qatar, and Dubai many times and I also did the dunes. Last trip to Saudi we got driven around in a current shape Patrol to and from a conference and I liked it. At the time I still had a Y61 and recall thinking the Y62 is much nicer in town but quite big and heavy for a trail.

I did see awesome off-road vehicles and obviously lots of Patrols - new and old but I dont recall seeing thousands of Patrols specifically. Lots of American muscle cars and pickups, super cars and other fancy bling.

I could be wrong. Comment was based on observations and not data.

Patrol sales in Aus were about 5000 in 2023 (12000 LC)vs about 20000 patrols in UAE only.
