Default Do we need Mozzarellas third party insurance for a day?

    HI all

So we are going from Gonarezhou via Sango to pafuri to sleep in the Kruger, can we do the third party insurance for a day or do we need to do it At all. Should we do it now in SA before we leave for Zimbabwe?

And can we pay in dollars at the border or mets or even rand?

    thanks in advance

If you get stopped at a roadblock and you can't produce it you will have problems and even worse if you have an accident. I have seen costs of R900 from the touts at the borders although I have never seen one at Pafuri. It costs R280 through Hollard and you can do it online Third-Party for Foreign-Registered Vehicles | Car Insurance (hollard.co.mz)

    OT:
    Perhaps someone can help.
I am searching for a company offering 3rd party insurance for hired vehicles (with SA number plates) for travel in Angola.
Can't purchase at commercial border, since we will cross at a small border where no insurance can be bought.
    Looking to buy insurance online.
    Thanks and apologies for hijacking

My 2c - what is your route?

    1. Sango/Chicualacuala - Mapai (100 km of tar road) then to the river, across the Limpopo, through the park to Pafuri gate

    2. Sango/Chicualacuala-Pafuri direct along the dirt tracks that follow the power lines, across the Limpopo and arrive at Pafuri gate

    For the first route: definitely
For the second route: some may say it's not necessary as you are completely off any tar roads and it's basically just bush tracks (at least it was the last time I did this).

I don't know if you can buy 3rd party when entering Mozambique at Sango. So if you decide to buy it (Hollard), arranging it in advance would be best and probably give peace of mind.

I did the overland route from Pafuri along the power lines to Sango and then continued to Beira. Couldn't get third party at Pafuri gate and it was nervewracking driving in Beira, trying to find the insurance company where I could buy it!

Thank you all, I had to laugh when I saw what my spell check called Mozambique- not mozzarella third party

I have bought the Hollard one for peace of mind thank you. In terms of the route, we haven't decided as we had originally booked the Limpopo crossing with Gonarezhou but I hear its not open. What would you guys recommend? we are three cars

    regards

During the planning stage we considered the power line route up to Sango and would have stayed at Dumela wilderness for 1 night. Reason for mentioning this is that it will depend from where you will start your day upon departure from Gonarezhou. One can obviously pull over and wild camp, but it's good to know that a lovely place such as Dumela exists. They offer camping and S/C tented facilities.
Due to flight delays we had to change our route. But on a future trip I would get the Pafuri border done in the afternoon, sleep at Dumela and go up to Sango the next day.
