Good day all.
Anyone who has booked and paid for the weekend or still intending to attend, please advise me accordingly.
Other than those already listed of course.
Thanks, Peter.

Answering the call of the wild is just so much better than answering the mobile.
Waking up in the morning is a good start. Then remember never ever to cross off the last item on your "bucket list" before first adding at least one more !!

It is my birthday on the 19th. You can use that as an excuse to have a fop even before the 1st aircraft flies over.
You can thank me later.
I hope you all have a great get-together, and maybe I'll get my ducks in a row one day to join you Natal bunch.
7 sleeps for us!!
Cheers

Isuzu update: REplaced the diesel supply solenoid today - hopefully after many 10's of thousands spent this R 500 "fix" solves the longstanding problem.
Ja, time will tell, must admit that by now I am losing faith just a little. (Eish).
Anyway, back on topic:
The weather is looking great as per the SAWS forecast for Weenen area.
Sunny and hot days and cool or benign night temperatures.
Thursday : 30 / 13
Friday : 34 / 14
Saturday : 35 / 16
Sunday 36 / 10 (? Eish ??!)
Anyway that is per SAWS.
Should be a great weekend together in nature and the park also has an interesting history.
Lots of historical sites in the region close by and plenty to see.
I believe that the park and facilities have been upgraded since I was last there many years back, so we shall see what we shall see.
I am sure that we will enjoy this small nature reserve in the KZN midlands (kinda).
Looking forward too seeing yu all there.
Graham # sleeps ?
I think (for me) , now = 6 !
It's like Christmas used to be when I was a child.
I so wish that my grand and great grandchildren could join me, but they simply live waaaay too far away.
I can still WISH.
See you good folk SOON.

Hi Peter,
Looking forward to it and the warm weather! A few weeks ago I was camping when the cold and wet weather came through so this hopefully will make a nice change.
I am likely to arrive in mid to late afternoon on Friday. I got to spend some time in the office.
Paul.
Yup, a small group it seems, but I am sure it will be a good one.
That's why it's called a MINI GTG.
If the place is as I remember it then it will be great. No 4x4 track that I am aware of but some interesting "dirt" roads.
The main experience is the natural ambiance and the animals, reptiles and birds.
Some great scenery too.

Would have loved to join, but too many things going on recently. And I'm out - as I said previously.
Have fun and post pics.

So new diesel supply solenoid now installed.
Can I possibly hope that this small item finally solves many years of issues ?
Given this, and a good outcome , I will be there by Thursday sometime.
I have a good feeling about this one even if limited (apparently) attendance.
Consider joining us on a day outing if not able to camp for whatever reason ??
Whatever, we will BRAAI, we will . Ja - WE WILL.
Weather looks great and cooler nights which suites just fine.
Note: Wood is apparently available to purchase nearby.
I will bring some charcoal in case we have any problem on ths score.
See you all soon.
(Getting excited!)

Maybe Graeme you could update us on conditions, factors there this evening since I'm thinking you may be there already.
Also anything I should bring along tomorrow?
Of course I do have the Forum Banner and would appreciate some help in putting it up in an appropriate place as well as some assistance in raising my ground tent.
I can do most of it myself, just need assistance with the frame (torsion issues).
It is actually a two man job. I have done it alone before now but these days it ain't so easy anymore.
Yes, I know, "Eish"!
See you tomorrow Graeme and others later ...
Guys, please remember that the reserve water is NOT POTABLE, so those into drinking water (Eish much?) please remember to bring some with you.
OK for showers, washing etc. but not OK for consumption apparently.
I have some wood and some hardwood charcoal but some extra wood especially would be good for gesellige evening braai side chats and stories of past trips / experiences .... well you know the way it is at these gatherings.
Expecting good weather at this point.
Slight chance of light rain Sat and late Sun, but looks all good so far.
Nice warm daytimes and nice cooler nights.
PURRRRRFECT.
Any update on mobile reception ?

Wishing you all a pleasant weekend.
Enjoy yourselves and hope the weather stays clear.
What a nice relaxed MINI GTG it was, all 3 of us and two guests. UNTIL we discovered a fourth member who did not realise that he was at a GTG of any description !!! (Welcome PLOD !!)
But guys, a pity that there were so many cancellations, no doubt for good reasons.
It was a great venue indeed and well worth a visit if any of you would like to go there sometime.
Clean, well maintained, well managed, friendly and helpful staff, amazing scenery and a good selection of animals around, including giraffe regularly wandering through the unfenced campsite.
From Pinetown 2.5 to 3 hour drive (Only due to the roadworks on N3) otherwise 2 Hrs approx.
From Durban I would guess 3 hours.
Rates very reasonable and 7 campsites with power, another 5 without, then also a bush camp and a cottage.
A number of nice picnic sites with toilets, also clean and with paper ! (Eish!, yes)
Attached is a beautiful conservancy - the Tierkloof Conservancy, all included in your booking
The weather was great with just one unexpected mild thunderstorm at about 1 am one night.
Days warm to hot and nights cool - just the way I like it.
Waiting for the next KZN GTG fo sho ...
Thanks to all who attended knowingly or unknowingly.

Looks like we dodged a bullet by leaving on Sunday instead of today, it's raining in Weenen now!!
We home safe now but what a horrendous drive home yesterday, with rain and heavy mist. At least the traffic was light with no heavies.
Emptied the rain gauge when we got home yesterday 12mm & this morning another 39mm & still raining.
Thanks Peter for organising the GTG, Weenen Nature Reserve is a GEM, have visited before & will again!
Cheers

Even leaving before you on Sunday I got caught in the rain on the N3 on the last stretch around PMB, and a nasty accident on the road to slow things down too.
Only today have I unpacked the Suuz due to incessant rain since getting home.
Caught a brief lull and it's raining now again.
I have not yet checked the rain gage but (From a distance) I can see it's well above halfway full.
Looking at the water level in my swimming pool I would say there's been more than average rainfall over the last 4 days here.
Anyway, a great venue and we should consider it again in the future, a bit more central for those living on the north coast , Highway area, or Midlands.
But we could not accommodate a big crowd there methinks.
However that would be unlikely.
Sometimes less is more.
The lawns are going to GROW now and the SHRUBS and the WEEDS ... so get your gardening boots out and get out there.
It's therapeutic.
Cheers.

It was good to meet you guys. Guess I should spend more time online!
Leaving on Sunday was the correct call. Yesterday and today we have had 64mm rain up here.
I agree, Weenen is a hidden gem. Fortunately we are only 90 minutes away so we do quite a few day trips.
Remember that there are only 12 camp sites, of which only 7 have electrical points. I happened to bump into the Ranger in charge and he informed me that they plan to add water points to the sites, which would be a blessing for washing up.
Hope to meet up again.
