Mvuu lodge to Lusaka Airport or Mana (Zimbabwe) to Lusaka airport?
|
Hello All.
I will travel from Mvuu campsite to Lusaka on the begining of November.
My flight is at 1 pm at Lusaka Airport.
How long time do you think i will have for this journey ?
Many thanks
Franck
Mvuu lodge to Lusaka Airport or Mana (Zimbabwe) to Lusaka airport?
Mvuu is on the Zambian side of Zambezi (bordering Lower Zambezi NP), so no Chirundu border crossing is involved.
If your flight is at 1pm, I would be st the sirport at least an hour and a half before that so at 11:30 am at the latest. Even from Mvuu this would be hard to get, you should count around 5 hours minimum to the airport, and you have to cross the whole Lusaka to get there. 5 hours is actually probably not enough. So, in short, I would certainly not dare to do this on thd day of my flight.
If you are indeed starting from Mana Pools, then this is even theoretically not possible on the day of your flight.
24 hours in a day.... 24 beer in a case.... Coincidence?

Thank you and sorry for my mistake in the title.
I confirm i will come from Mvuu/ZIM, going to Lusaka Airport.
I will expect 5 hours for the journey, that mean i need to leave Mvuu at 4hoo (maximum) in the morning...
i need to think about a Plan B.. sleep close to the airport ?
many thanks all.
Franck
You just confirm the impossible.
Mvuu is in Zambia close to LZNP
ZIM side is Mana Pools and nothing like Mvuu
Just to tell you, the "road" from Mvuu to Chirundu is a nightmare, then there is slow truck traffic all the way to Lusaka and many police check points or speed traps.
You simply won't make it even if you start that early.
Traffic is all night and broken down truck a common occurrence.

Thanks again for your answers.
And what about Leopard Road (pink one) vs "big road" (Yellow one) ??
Mapsource says 40 km and one hour less for this road. What do you think about this road ?
And an other question : where to stay close to Lusaka the day before my flight ?
What about Lusaka National Park ? do they propose campsite ?

Forget Leopard road too. It is your last day, you are in a hurry to catch the flight, and that road is a proper 4x4 experience. A perfect scenario for many things to go wrong!
You simply need to stay somewhere near Lusaka for tha last night. Eureka Camp, Lukasa, or Pioneers come to mind.
