one comment above states … if you for a previous police verification doc, that should do.
We went to Zambia last year with the clearance doc and heading there again next week under the assumption that the same police verification doc can be used again. Same car as last year.
    Is this a naive assumption.
Time will tell. Fellow traveller took last year's certificate to SAPS and they up dated that. Ours was 2 years old and SAPs issued a new one.
We do not like the requests/opportunities to line the pockets of the border officials so spent the 45 mins at SAPs to get the pap[erwork needed upfront.
When we entered Zambia 2 years ago we were asked for the PVV (Not stolen status) form.
We cross into Kazangulu in 3 weeks Will try to add feedback if we have connectivity

We crossed at Kazangulu about a week ago, there is a large notice outlining the documentation required which included the need for Interpol. I checked wth them how long the PVV (Not Stolen Staus) forum is valid. Answer= 6 months so we were pleased to have it. TED2X crossed at Kariba a few days ago and was also asked for this form.
At Kazangulu there is a Vehicle Verification Bay where vehicles are checked but we did not need to go there. The border was easy but tedious. Took about 90 mins. We were able to buy insurance (USD 9)and pay for Bridge tax, Carbon Tax ( these were a total of USD 35) and road toll using a card.
ATM did not work so did not have cash.
Pleasing to see no touts or money changers and immigration officer chased a chap away from the computer that one uses to do customs declaration noting that he was filling in this declaration for someone else and this leads to unhappy travellers

Thank you for the report! I'm glad to hear there was a notice posted about the Intrepol requirement. Do you have any idea how/who/what the Vehicle Verification Bay is used for? There was a report here a year or so ago that you could legitimately get verification done at the border, but I never could find any confirmation or detail. Is this perhaps true?

In Zambia now. I (just) managed to get the police verification done in CT before leaving. Was asked for it at Kazangula. Nice combined border crossing and of course the new bridge is a huge improvement. As noted, a long time to do all the paperwork, esp compared to Bots or Nam. 90 minutes with no one in front of us. Much form filling through online stations that cannot seem to copy info over (so details have to be reentered several times). No real customs checks. Namibia glanced in back. Bots and Zam never looked. Overall Zambia very friendly but needs streamlining processes

i am in a similar situation where I live in the UK and arrive in 2 weeks and don't have time for the PVV.

Just this week I found a company that is doing it for me in Pretoria without the car.

Ping me a message and I can share her contact details with you or whatsapp me on +447984338186.

    thanks
