ZD30 Injector Pump Failed - What Now?

Hello everyone, as some of you know my old 2004 Hardbody ZD30 has encountered a rather expensive problem - the injector pump went.

I've been doing lots of research and spoke to a whole lot of people about potential solutions... I'm based in PTA and one of the diesel specialists quoted R44k to look if they can find the problem with a 50% chance of fixing it. Sounds like daylight robbery to me🤨

I just want to hear from people who had the same problem... how did you go about solving the problem? If it was a recon, where did you go have it fixed and done properly that wasn't a total ripoff?

Your 5 cents is greatly appreciated. The Disco 2 isn't as fuel efficient in town as the bakkie is and I definitely don't want the bakkie to stand for much longer.

My experience 3 years back motor failure! +- R65000 to overall motor that's if the injection pump also did not fail. I bought a complete import motor from Engines and More for R22000 all in all costed me R29000 and the bakkie is on the road. Today 110000km later stil no problems

He sorted my Merc leaking diesel injector pump in a week, where as the mechanic before couldn't get it sorted out for 2.5months. Prev mech still charged me R7 500 not fixing it. Ray got it working for R4 500

Are you sure its the pump that failed, have you done any tests to confirm its the pump itself.
