    Default East rand to Ballito

Is there a suitable alternative to the freeway to get from Kempton to Ballito in one day? Or at least bypass for Van Reenen's.
Will be doing it on Sunday, which is also the last day of the school holidays, and I am a bit wary of the traffic on the N3.

    Thanks

I’ve always used Oliviershoek pass when going to drakenberg resorts instead of the recommended route. Never been busy and scenic as well.

I once drove the the alternative past Sterkfontein dam and it was hectic, but at the time the main route was closed. Perhaps worth a try if the main route is open. That is basically the only alternative I could see, unless you want to take a wide detour.

I am not an expert on the route though, so perhaps some further input will be forthcoming.
