    Default First time Botswana

    Good Day All,

We are going to Botswana in August, we are heading to the Music festival on the Makgadi Pans.

Traveling from Pretoria with 2 x Vehicles and camping trailers.

    Just a few questions please:

    - Is Groblersbrug the best border post to cross?
    - If Groblersburg is the best, what time should I try to be there in the morning to avoid trucks?
    - Is there any drinkable water to fill up the trailers, last stop will be Nata?
    - Travelling with my kids, do we just require passports and papers for the vehicles? or any other traveling documents required to cross?

    Thank you

Trucks won't be an issue with you, drive past them, park at the building and do your paperwork and off you go.
If you are sleeping somewhere along the way fill up with water where you are staying, or ask at filling station along the way if you can fill up water.

Kids - unabridged birth certificates + passport, newer passports have these in the passports for kids. If both parents are not going along, you'd need an affidavit from Home Affairs giving the other parent permission to take said child out of RSA.

Papers (Natis) for your vehicle/trailer and proof of insurance saying the vehicle is covered outside of RSA. If your vehicle/trailer is financed a letter from your finance house saying you can take the vehicle out of RSA (Specify countries). I've never been asked for these but rather have them with you.

Don't forget a pen for border forms.

    Enjoy!

Are you going to https://www.oppipanne.com ?

Border may be busy because of your fellow music festival attendees.

Hi, yes it is for the Oppipanne Fees, guessing not everyone is very happy about this festival taking place?

Nata Still Water sells water. It is at the junction where the Gweta road meets Nata.
