Who here has done ice cream at de wildt in something other than a wildly kitted out and modified vehicle?
I was at the trail yesterday, drove out "Gert se klip" easy breezy and felt very tempted to go down ice cream but decided to chicken out.
Also, who has done all of the red trail in a stock vehicle? Can it be done?
I just have underbody protection and rock sliders, no lift or bigger wheels.
Some pics from yesterday:

I have done Ice Cream a few times.
Patrol with 2" lift, 33" tires, rock sliders and bumpers. I also have lower transfer case gearing, but that is not really relevant when going down Ice Cream.
Did attempt to do it upwards once, but got caught out about half way up.

Remember that the Patrol's standard size is 32" so just one size bigger.
But yes, once again, you just can't compare the big live-axle wagons with ordinary bakkies. They may seem to work well enough for a while, but you have to try so much harder.
Honestly though, your bakkie will easily make it down Ice cream.
Question is just how you're getting it home afterwards.

Recently complete the red route loop with a few mates:
- 105 Land Cruiser (2inch lift, 33inch tyres + rock sliders)
- Pajero SWB with slightly bigger tyres + 2inch lift
- 3rd gen Suzuki Jimny with a small lift, open diffs.
We completed it without much drama. But I would recon stock vehicles such as the LC100/105, Patrols and Jeeps will be able to complete it as well.
Would not want to venture without a lift on another vehicle as damage wil occur, you can maybe complete it, but the underbody and bash plates will work real hard/or you wil spend the entire day packing rocks.

We then also attempted this section of the track, upwards direction. Not sure of the obstacle name. Very deep ruts, LC105 managed but the diff did touch on the final section of the ruts.
Pajero with a very experienced driver got to about 85% but the ruts were to deep, a slight pull and it got through.

I Was very tempted to go down there this past Saturday. But I didn't have anyone with me for incase something does go wrong. I have been down many obstacles of the same calibire with my Jimny but never do it alone. So I turned around and came back the way I came.
I was there with my Spongebob The Sj 410..
I did drive up the other "exteme" obstacle to get to Ice Scream..
