Don't think the 2.2 had a cat .

So I took my Ranger for a service a few weeks ago and the mechanic showed me that the CAT has been removed. I didnt do it, and this was its first service done by anyone other than Ford. He also showed me what it looks like when someons removes it and welds in a pipe, and when someone removes it to look like factory. Mine is the factory looking job.
Is it possible that it could have been built without a CAT due to a shortage or whatever? Or would Ford have removed it for some reason? It never had an issue where they might have removed it to try and resolve the issue. Do you need to adjust ECU settings after removing a CAT?

If that is the case its good to hear. Although it does look like there was some welding going on there.
As far as I know the 2.2s for the local market do not have a CAT.

Did you get it new, or was it a used vehicle.
The only 2.2 that came with cats was the xlt plus.

The only 2,2 that came with a cat were the XL versions. This being for sites required it for emission regulations like mines etc
I once drove from a customer back to the office and all of a sudden a cat jumped out from behind the bakkie's seat. I almost crashed from the fright. That must have been a missing cat.
