Moegatle has some sandy river-bed sections.
But to be honest, it's firm enough that you really need to try to get stuck there.

Anybody know of a trail around Gauteng that is a bit more sandy?
Last weekend at paradise 4x4 made me realise I need a whole lot more "practice" haha

Beat-up rat rod of a '96 Nissan Patrol that bears the evidence of many wonderful adventures (and a few stupid indiscretions).
Years ago we used to go play at Chimes near Snake road Benoni...it was mine dump sand which some people claimed to be bad for your car...not sure if there are still guys that play there these days...
Was loads of fun back then...

If Rhino park is still up and running you can try there. They had a sizeable sandpit way back when.

Spend the few bucks on a road trip to the Kalahari. Lots of overseas tourists are here to experience 4X4, real wildlife etc. etc. Why should Johburgers then pinch pennies and miss it?

It might be bad for your car but its even worse for you.
People living next to these dumps have babies with deformities, and many are experiencing a very long list of medical issues.
No shortage of exposés and documentaries on Youtube.
I myself spent hundreds of hours on mine dumps playing with enduro and adventure bikes and it was a bit of an eye opener.
Not sure if this is the one I watched, but looks like it covers it:

In the interest of transparency, I must disclose that my real name is Anakin Skywalker. I hail from the planet Tatooine. When I am not piloting my Imperial Class Destroyer, a magnificent vessel that perfectly complements my malignant narcissism, I drive a Nissan Patrol, a Japanese automobile from Planet Earth that certainly grounds me in many, many ways.
The vagrants at chimes might be an even bigger danger.

They aren't vagrants. They are heavily armed Zama-Zamas that regularly have shootouts between rival groups. They normally attack anyone who comes close to their illegal mining operations with AK 47's and other borrowed SAPS arms. My sister and brother in law lived on a plot on the other side of the highway before they immigrated to the UK. There were nightly shootouts from there.

Bullet holes in your Everest are easier to have patched than holes in your body. That is the same area where that young couple were shot and murdered when they broke down on the highway a few years ago.
There was a video doing the rounds on social media not so long ago of a club or group having a rip-roaring get together there and they were left alone. It might be because there were so many people there that they were left alone.

So it seems as if the search is on to find a trail where you can do some sand driving? If anyone find one - please let me know...
There is also a difference between sand and sand... Some sand just gets compacted and you drive over easily. Then you get river sand...
