It is time for the 500 plus owners to start an independent forum here to discuss their experiences in owning the Grenadier. It has been about a year since the public have owned the vehicle.

We have had ours since August 2023 and have experienced some fun and several issues with the vehicle. The software has needed about four upgrades at the dealership and there have been several minor mechanical fixes. There was one significant issue with faulty accelerator pedal which we hope is now resolved.

We still like the vehicle and it sits alongside a long history of Land Rovers and Mercedes for comparison. It is solidly built and the engine has real power.

The costs of accessories is a concern, after the vast market of suppliers for Defenders , Discoveries and the Japanese equivalents. A recent enquiry to Ineos revealed their price on a tyre being significantly more than my usual supplier. A spare rim was exorbitant.

It will also be interesting to see what happens with insurance premiums when the price of spare parts hits the repair market.

any thoughts,others to date. I know some people have already done many thousands of kilometres.

Unfortunately not an owner but rather an avid follower. I’ve noticed a big increase in builds on youtube both minor and as extensive as chopping off the roof for an alucab conversion.

Have a look at Ronny Dahl on youtube who is busy with some proper testing and has added a few accessories.

A big downfall of the ineos is the fuel capacity, something yet to be resolved by the aftermarket but im sure will come.

Two of multiple mates own Grenadiers and this is their only major grumble. I haven’t looked underneath but I wonder if the placement of the batteries etc precludes a lot of space for an extra tank?

Apparently the space for Adblu tank could be used and others have managed a bigger tank by adjusting the exhaust manifold fitting under rear axle.

I stand corrected a 68l tank available from brown davis in Aus. Almost 160l should sort most adventures especially the diesel.

A friend here in Cape Town has had muffler box removed and fitted a102 Ltd diesel tank with a fuel pump to main tank, an air compressor and a 5 litre water tank!

A Grenadier recently burnt down in Khaudum, was not mentioned why, but if I see the undercarriage where a lot grass can pack up then this could be a reason. So check it regularly.

There was another one somewhere that burnt down in Aus. The prado 120’s suffered from an issue where grass was trapped between exhaust near plastic fuel tank. Hoping its something as simple as grass getting caught and not an electrical fault.

We were on a trip to Khubu island with a suzuki GV that also caught alight due to grass. Luckily caught early.

We are still having issues with our Grenadier Fieldmaster after ten months. It has been in the dealers on and off since we acquired in August 2023. Originally it was software upgrades causing random messages, then it was a roaring sound at 2000rpm that was finally fixed and more software. We took to Kalahari and engine fault kept coming on and speed control off and brake warnings. That was fixed then it went to the Tankwa Karoo and the same computer faults emerged with similar warnings, then the accelerator started faulting on and off . The holiday was abandoned and the vehicle returned to Cape Town. It was in dealer for two weeks and returned with odd reinstallation of boot tie downs?? and the Stop Start not functioning .

Honestly I am so disappointed that these items have arisen and feel very wary about taking it off to say Namibia as was planned later this year. I have a New Defender which has not had one issue since purchase in march 2023!

Can I recommend this vehicle?

There are so many really nice elements to it , the engine and gearbox, the undercarriage the sold build , comfortable seats. Many folks are not indicating any problems!
