Try the WEG camping guide?

myself and a group of friends used to camp one a year in November. we found a camp place that work for us and we have been going there every year for the past 3-4 years (camp Cloe)
i want to start camping more often but it seems like quite a chore to research camp sites, and can get a bit overwhelming.
i would love a site thats quiet, needs a bit of 4x4 to get there, but then also has electricity and water when you get there. (a big ask i know)
my camping setup is min and i will keep it that way.
so how do you guys find camp sites? word of mouth? online? throw a dart at a map and see whats there??
Easiest way....go onto Google maps in the area you might want to go and then search "camping"....that will give you like 90% of places.
The rest either 4x4 forum (who is going camping this weekend), Youtube, word of mouth, T4A, iOverlander. Whenever we meet other campers we always ask what their favourite campsite in SA is, found some great 1s that way.

Isuzu KB300 d-Teq with high range, low range and long range.
Isuzu KB280DT wif a front diff.
Mercedes W123 300D has been sold.
Bio Fuel and WVO on hold for now.
Drive into Baviaankloof and see where the power lines are going, then keep the eyes open for a turn-off which has no gate.
Follow to the end of the road, turn into the side track and "voila", here is your camping spot, power, ablution, water and solitude.
Can be done from either side

Whether you are a lion or gazelle, in order to survive, you better run like hell.
You can take a look at the MapStudio Camp & Caravan guide, quite useful with GPS coordinates, short description, iconography legend that will tell you what to expect (and help search for what you're looking for).

Watch youtube for campsite reviews. Then you get to see what it looks like as well. Follow channels you relate to. I trust “Get out go” and “travel gigolo”
Life is too short to visit the same place over and over.
I once made a reservation based on a travel magazine before the interweb was so integrated in our lives (2009). What a terrible experience. Clearly the writers were paid for the review or didnt actually visit the camp.
“Ongerepte natuur” can also refer to rotting animal carcasses strewn across the veld. So dont trust a cleverly written article.
