Default Undertray/ under bak mounting for arb air compressor.

Ive recently purchased a new gen ranger and been scouring the web for aftermarket parts. Ive found a company in Australia called Pirate camp co, https://piratecampco.com.au/ . While browsing the ranger section I came across a mounting bracket for the arb air compressor under the tub, behind the rear wheel by the step in the tub, https://piratecampco.com.au/collecti...6945c26c&_ss=c.
The filter is then relocated to behind the tail light, https://piratecampco.com.au/collecti...er-raptor-2022

My question is how suitable is this option? Surely not great as it would be exposed to the elements and wont last very long, especially with water crossings and mud holes.
Tried looking online for reviews for this set up but not really finding anything out there, So figured id pose the question here.
Part of thinks this is stupid but a part of is like "if there's a product for it then surely there's some proof in the pudding."

I do wanna point out that it appealed to me to as i like the whole being full kitted out without seeing it concept. Things being tucked away and hidden but easy to use.

I've always felt that the only reason to pay the extra for an ARB is that it's supposed to be able to take the punishment of being mounted in a vehicle's engine bay and that spares are supposed to be available.

Apart from the risk of full immersion and direct impact, I think the conditions under the load bin are far more forgiving, and the risk of direct impact should be reasonably easily mitigated? As for complete immersion, the engine bay fan distributes water around an engine bay very effectively.

I don't know what filter they use, but a good-quality commercial 5-micron filter and water trap setup is a great way to improve a compressor's life over the common foam-element rubbish most compressors come with, and they are relatively cheap (in fact they will probably cost less than the fittings and tubing needed to fit them).

My ARB single has been mounted underneath the right rear quarter of my 76. Behind the rear wheel in front of the bumper. Dead space. Its always on and tied in and fused to the 16mm2 dual batt lines running to the rear DC-DC controller and batt. I've extended the intake to the inside of the vehicle. Its a standard thread used on pneumatic fittings I can't remember.

The ARB units are designed to be mounted outside. Mine has now been mounted outside for around 3 years and hasn't skipped a stroke. The only concern is submersion. I don't think the relay driven by the pressure switch will like it. Relays don't like to be submerged. Neither do vehicles. So when I'm faced with a submersion situation I will make a plan. But this really doesn't happen often.

If I was to change something, I would buy the twin. These units are fantastic and worth the expense.

I had my compressor in the engine bay for some time, without any issues, but eventually mounted it in the canopy when I changed my FJ for a hilux.
But something I would like to add is, if you’d like to add more than 1 hose connection point on your vehicle, (I have one on each side of the canopy) you can buy those ARB hose connectors separately from 4x4 megaworld. They work a lot better than any other quick connect fitting
