    There was an upswing in home brewing and distilling a few years ago.

    Anyone ?

    I still do.
    Grew a batch of my Merlot recently, start to finish.
    I didn't age but it came out quite drinkable.

    Otherwise with the pot still I make some witblitz that I last flavored with honey and cinnamon.

    I dont know how actual wine farms make money though. It is a time intensive process to sell a bottle of "cheap" stuff for R50

    I distill Austrian type schnapps, made a really good apple schnapps as well as plum earlier this year.

    Was actually a team effort with my son and his mates as a sort of hand me down, my grandpa taught me and a cousin has given me real skills in terms of quality

    Fun times
