Default Hilux > 2021, worth the buy?!

I'm in the market for a D/C Hilux 2.8GD-6. In 2021 Toyota introduced a new "variant". I'm trying to understand if it is smart to buy the > 2021 variant. I'm on a budget so being able to buy the earlier model makes it easier.

After some reading I'm not really convinced that the new variant is revolutionary better. Some tweaking with the engine, DPF? and modifications ex and interior.

    I'm a missing something?

Old 2.8 gets hot easily in the auto. (My biggest gripe) Turbo does not give enough boost higher in the rpm range. The shift points are shocking compared to the newer engine. The exhaust manifold gaskets pop far easier. The new ones have better clamps on the intercooler hoses. (Minor but still a problem)

Remapping helps on the older engines but it still doesn’t compare to the newer 150kw.

btw the changes are not small, head, cooling, pistons, turbo etc etc

I had a 2018 2.8 GD6 Auto, 95000 km's, it was stolen a few weeks ago. I read comments on this forum about this bakkies problems and I'm convinced that the posters were driving something else. Loved the gearbox, loved the power, in fact I liked it so much I just bought a new one, collecting it this week, Ghost fitted.

New one is much better, if you can afford it.
