    Default Surveillance camera

Im looking for a surveillance camera to be used in the wilderness, no wifi no cellular to set up outside BushLapa to be able to see whats going on outside at night, or when out on a drive, with the possibility of down loading to SD. Motion detector with night vision or light that comes on.
Any ideas if such is available ?

    Will be appreciated.

You need live surveillance, but don't want wi-fi or cellular?

How will the camera transmit to your phone, I am assuming it is to your phone or a tablet and not a screen with a wire as you also want to view it while out on a drive?

    Hi

Not sure if anyone ended up doing this ? I am looking at the same thing but want to use a high quality motion detection camera that works at night in the campsite. I have 12 volt and 240 available but no internet. Do you get something that can record high quality at night? Something for HIK vision or similar?

    Thanks

A high end dashcam will do that as long as you keep it powered

Hi Pieter. Oom Danie hier. Jy Kan my nommer by John kry.

Hi, considering you don't want to use WIFI or cellular then the device will need to use its own radio connection. The best idea I can think of is a baby monitor. And I believe you can get some with sd cards to record. They see in the dark using IR but one thing to note is they are definitely not water proof so you can't use it outdoors without some kind of protection! Take note that the camera can only communicate about a 100m away from the monitor with no obstructions. So it won't work on a game drive.

For long distances you are probably going to need some kind of camera setup that is connected to roof antenna that transmits far and then you will need a receiver that can accept it. Something like how drones work could be useful. If you youtube long distance video transmission you can see some ideas.

That may be the answer to the OP's question: buy a crashed drone for which the camera and data transmission parts still work.

These were taken with an LTL Acorn 5mp, very basic & very cheap R2750 . Obviously very hit & miss with subject composition. The videos are better they have more of the subject, but I couldn't upload any? Each year I think I'll treat myself to a better quality camera, but it doesn't matter how good the camera is the animals don't pose. I just want to see what walked past during the night. I've had mostly genet, then, Cheetah, leopard, brown hyena, spotted hyena, porcupine, jackal , giraffe, various antelope & an owl. The most unusual night up in Kafue, I got a giant bush baby, leopard, giraffe & elephant. These images are recorded on an sd card & I view them in the morning.

    I would suggest the following:

    AXIS IP Camera
    Lens
    SD card
    Battery
    Solar
    WIFI Nano station
    Cables

You can then connect and set up and record to your laptop
You can view live on your phone
You can record to the SD card

Happy to assist with setup and training

Please give me a call to discuss if this meets your needs?
