    Indeed.

Is there any evidence that the 2 engines are the same?

My understanding is that Ford bought the design and then engineered / modified it to fit their applications......

Got the Ford Everest V6 (same engine). Currently on 11500km and VERY impressed with the vehicle. So far, no issues.

The interior of the VW is alot nicer than the Ford though, especially if you are used to VW.

Well, you would get the same engine so you may as well choose the styling/interior package that suits your taste.

Correction, not a friend of a friend. Just a friend. Are you in denial that it actually happened? Do you want me to send you proof to your personal number?

My post was more a call-out to forum members to share their catastrophic failure experiences as those feedback from owners are highly regarded & give opportunity for others on the forum that might experience the same to engage with them for more detail.

If your friend is not on the forum, maybe invite him to join and share if the friend is interested.

Definitely not in denial and as I mentioned previously I'm already convinced never to get a V6 diesel, same as the Disco with the crank issues made me steer clear of those.

I don`t think it is as simple as that. It seems that something is causing the cam to seize or come to a sudden halt. The pulley is the the weakest link in the "chain" which then fails. It looks like Ford is keeping the issue close to their chest, similar to what Land-Rover did. Playing the percentage game, and replace those which fails under warranty. If there was and easy fix like a pulley replacement the recall would have been done by now.

Hy is nie `n happy chap nie. Toe staan hy.
