You may be right, the only video that I could find shows how the back piece is pulled back but does not show how the bed is made. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxI...nnel=CaravanSA) . I will take it off the list until I have better proof of how the bed is set up. If the bed cannot stay made up during travel it does not qualify.

I have looked at most of these and primarily due to it being a PITA making up the bed especially for short stay overs, our Ech Chobe ticks all the boxes except this particular rather important department.
The Echo Kavango can be left made up as well BTW if you dont use the dining area option.
Another important factor for us is to have at least a queen size bed as well.
So far by far the best of what we are looking for is the Bush Lapa Boabab 2! Currently its retailing at R508k so not cheap!
Get a second hand Armadillo Shack and you're sorted.
Echo Kavango. Alhoewel hy 'n vier slaap is, hoef jy nie die voorste bed op te slaan nie. Jy kan hom as 'n twee slaper gebruik met die vaste bed binne.

Just tested the ELXV Ghari 3.7 to Zinave, Goronoza, Murrongulo, Bilene and back to Nelspruit, the safari started at the Pafuri border. Road conditions are really bad after Pomeme going north. Our ave speed on the total round trip of 3150km was 40km/hr.
What I loved about this caravan is the build quality, the use of quality products, towing stability and the unbelievable ease putting and braking up to sleep over. The independent Alco Endurance X suspension, way better than the solid axel or Rubex options out there.
ALXV is going to have to deal withlong waiting lists.
You can add the Conqueror Commander. Do not have to use the front fold-out bed, just remove the matrass and outside tent, or order it without. And leave the inside bed always made up.

I was told about the Kampnet Stallion 2-sleeper, which has a fixed bed. Does anybody know about these caravans? The 2-sleeper retails for R293 500 without some optional items. I will add this to the list also.
Fatbike, will you please provide feedback after your visit? If you can, also post a photo of the slide-out bed as I cannot find any on their website or the net. I just want to see if any canvas is involved and whether one can access the bed without climbing over your partner (as with the Adventure Extreme Spartan Deluxe, which otherwise seems like an excellent caravan).
The only other thing that worries me a bit about the Kampnet caravans is the layout of the kitchen and the wash-up area. You can maybe provide your views on that, but otherwise they seem to be well-priced and made with a good following and numerous trips by owners through Botswana.
