Im asking because last time i looked there was only a handful and this list is huge.
The list in post #1 only contains two-sleeper offroad caravans with a fixed bed. I have double checked each one and am relatively satisfied that it is correct. If anyone notices one that should not be on the list, please comment.

I would say the Mobi XL doesn't qualify as a fixed bed. You have to pull the back piece out (kitchen) to setup the bed which is folded in travel mode.

You may be right, the only video that I could find shows how the back piece is pulled back but does not show how the bed is made. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxI...nnel=CaravanSA) . I will take it off the list until I have better proof of how the bed is set up. If the bed cannot stay made up during travel it does not qualify.

I have looked at most of these and primarily due to it being a PITA making up the bed especially for short stay overs, our Ech Chobe ticks all the boxes except this particular rather important department.
The Echo Kavango can be left made up as well BTW if you dont use the dining area option.
Another important factor for us is to have at least a queen size bed as well.
So far by far the best of what we are looking for is the Bush Lapa Boabab 2! Currently its retailing at R508k so not cheap!

Echo Kavango.

Vir doeleindes hiervan lys ek net ware 2-slapers.

Do you know how scarce they are? Nothing to find in the used market as far as I can tell.

I am excluding the teardrop trailers herein as this is more aimed at caravans.

The ones that I have identified (and with the input of others) are (with starting prices obtained from manufacturers' websites or advertised for sale as at date hereof):

    1. Bush Lapa Boabab 2 (R508 000.00)
    2. Adventure Xtreme Spartan Deluxe (with fixed bed option, it also has a slide-out option) (R394 900.00)
    3. Adventure Xtreme Warrior Deluxe (R290 500.00)
    4. Adventure Xtreme Viking (R230 000.00)
    5. Infanta Enkulu 1 (+-R399 900.00)
    6. Summit Karenga (starting at R370 000.00)
    7. Summit Kilimanjaro (although this is more of a 4 sleeper) (R580 000.00)
    8. Metalian M42 / Armadillo (starting at R540 000.00)
    9. Conqueror Supra I and II (camping trailers)
    10. Tuff Cats Mbada Nova 2 (starting at R489 000.00)
    11. Imagine Cruiservan (R510 000.00)
    12. Border X Extreme (starting at R379 000.00)
    13. Border X Outpost (starting at R525 000.00)
    14. Border X Expedition (starting at R629 000.00)
    15. ELXV Ghari (from R500 000.00 to R690 000.00)
    16. ELXV Ng'ombe (from R800 000.00 to R850 000.00)
    17. Moremi Max (starting at R185 000.00)
    18. Outbound Cyclone DB (R279 900.00)
    19. Unipod AdventurePod (R370 000.00 - one ad in Junkmail)
    20. Unipod ExpiditionPod
    21. Unipod BushPod (Some models).
    22. Afrispoor Caracal (from R629 000.00)
    23. Afrispoor Wildcat (R599 000.00)
    24. Gecko Xtreme (starting at R568 000.00)

I will update the list with new suggestions. We can maybe add websites and suggested starting prices later.

    Hi Dana
You have excluded the Stealth overlander range
Stealth Overlander 634 ES is 2/4 bed unit with full size double bed and ensuite internal bathroom
Stealth Overlander Bunk version 4 sleeper external shower as standard.

Both models come with 360 deg awning, 100lt std water, 8lt per minute pump, 100amp lithium battery, 200w flexible solar panel, 3 Alloy wheels with Wrangler Kevlar tyres.

All this for R575k add your fridge and you are set to go offgrid for under R600k

If you want a smaller van there is the Stealth Cub Overlander which has a fixed double bed which folds up to reveal a double dining area. Has standard lithium battery and charging system with 200w flexible slar panel.

Base price R395K with many available options to have an off grid van.

Just tested the ELXV Ghari 3.7 to Zinave, Goronoza, Murrongulo, Bilene and back to Nelspruit, the safari started at the Pafuri border. Road conditions are really bad after Pomeme going north. Our ave speed on the total round trip of 3150km was 40km/hr.
What I loved about this caravan is the build quality, the use of quality products, towing stability and the unbelievable ease putting and braking up to sleep over. The independent Alco Endurance X suspension, way better than the solid axel or Rubex options out there.
ALXV is going to have to deal withlong waiting lists.

You can add the Conqueror Commander. Do not have to use the front fold-out bed, just remove the matrass and outside tent, or order it without. And leave the inside bed always made up.

I have added the Stealth Cub Overlander, the others do not qualify as they are 4-sleepers.

No, does not qualify as it is not a dedicated 2-sleeper.

I was told about the Kampnet Stallion 2-sleeper, which has a fixed bed. Does anybody know about these caravans? The 2-sleeper retails for R293 500 without some optional items. I will add this to the list also.

Fatbike, will you please provide feedback after your visit? If you can, also post a photo of the slide-out bed as I cannot find any on their website or the net. I just want to see if any canvas is involved and whether one can access the bed without climbing over your partner (as with the Adventure Extreme Spartan Deluxe, which otherwise seems like an excellent caravan).

The only other thing that worries me a bit about the Kampnet caravans is the layout of the kitchen and the wash-up area. You can maybe provide your views on that, but otherwise they seem to be well-priced and made with a good following and numerous trips by owners through Botswana.
