Hello,
So I got a D-max with a locked engine, code: 4JK-1E5-TC. It stopped on the highway.
It is possible to rotate the engine CCW almost a complete turn before stopping. Then you can rotate it CW until it stops at same position.
In other clock-words: the engine stops at 11 CW. Can then rotate it CCW until roughly around 09:30-10.
This to me indicates some carnage within one of the cylinders. Maybe timing has jumped and it is hitting the valves?
Have anyone encountered this before? By reading online, it doesn't seem to be a problem on these engines.
Any input is helpful. I am new to this specific engine.

It sounds like this
The earlier Isuzu motors had timing gears, but the newer versions, of which this is one, had timing a timing chain.
This is not a regular/known problem with these motors but I assume it could have happened

I agree. Will try get the rocker cover off in a couple of days and that should give me my answers...
So I removed the rocker cover, but did not find anything very obvious... No broken rocker arms.
Timing also seems to be okay and it stops when cylinder 1 and 4 is almost at the top. Tried hitting the valves and they seem to not be stuck.
I guess pulling the head and/or check turbos is next step. Have a feeling there might be something inside one of the cylinders even though that would be strange!
Does anyone have the workshop manual for the car/engine?
Most likely one of the bolts holding the swirl flaps in place worked itself loose. Seen it a few times. 3MM borescope fits through the injector hole btw.
