Default Bargain or not? Nissan patrol?

Hi , I just want to know if it's a bargain or not. My cousin can get a Niisan Patrol 1985 with the 2.8 stait six moter for R 35 000.00. The body looks ok and i can see no leaks on the engine or drivetrain. It's got 219 000 km on the clock and was a ex eskom vehical. What's the verdict?

Brilliant vehicle, bullet-proof engine. Does it have a carb or EFI? That price is for nothing, if you consider the vehicle's capabilities and potential.
Ex-ESKOM means it was regularly serviced and maintained.
    He can hardly do better.

Thanks. I will tell him to join there. We couldn't see on toop of the engine to see if it is a carb efi. I'd guess it's a carb model.

Well, the carburettor will stick out and be really obvious......
If it is a carb model, he can buy the Skyline GTX fuel injection system (injectors, manifold, ECU, etc) from a scrapyard and convert to fuel injection. Adds some kW to the power and improves fuel consumption, last but not least gets rid of fuel starvation in steep inclines (carburettor float level issue....)

We've already looked at the engine importers to see what they have available. there is a lot of engines available the should fit wituot any mods. the should have a lot less milage on aswell. How easy is it to do a suspention lift on the patrol? It's go leafs all roand.

As easy as changing the leafs to sit on top of the axles. It is currently under the axle.

Do research on "Spring Over Axle" (SOA) conversions.

Depending on the tyres, condition etc they go between 10 000 and 30 000. Only came out with carb and efi will cost you 10k on top. I dont like soa, gets too high. Look for rust and make a calculated offer, R25 000

Thanx. I didn't see any rust and the tyres are worn. The Patrol will be a toy so the hight shouldn't be a problem unless the soa causes other problems. I will relay this message.
