Wonder what ships are stuck in that port and can't get out.

My money is on a few military ships.

They are hoping to have the ship freed in a day or two according to this 20hr old article, which has a video of them blasting the last bit of bridge structure lying on the ship. There is still quite a bit of road structure on the ship which needs clearing.

Their aim is to have the main shipping lane open by the end of this month (2 weeks).

Wonder if that vessel had any reefers stacked at the bottom - for safety purposes all power obviously had to be cut to the ship for them to work on it.

Can you imagine the mess? I presume they would just discard of those boxes as is, dont even look at the doors, just offload and burn

You'd think so, but they are sailors, used to long stretches with no land under your feet.

Some crews do between 5 weeks and 2 yrs just depends on there contract, yes it a life we chose my next trip is 10 weeks, but what I don’t agree with is the taking away of there phones, even if they did give a replacement that is not the point, it is the modern age with starlink and others being able to have contact with home, sort out your bills and so on makes life way better, all there photos of home and so on taken away,

There are still duties to be performed on the ship. Maintenance etc. The ship is provisioned for them so why not avoid the extra cost of hotels and meals onshore.

Apparently, a portion of the hull is actually grounded. The article I saw they were unsure if this was due to the mass of the bridge trusses on the bow and if the ship would release when the trusses were removed.

That's all well and good, but the land is right there, almost a step away and not beyond the horizon, so it has to play on the mind a bit.

Exactly - a dead ship is a bugger.

Things fail and deteriorate quickly and reviving it takes lots of time and money.

It's not just maintenance, it is keeping systems alive and running.

Indeed, well done to the men and women who have worked tirelessly to make this happen. Still a way to go though.

What happens to her now, does she get unloaded

Does she sail off into the darkness to continue what she started.

Surely what ever cargo she has on board belongs to somebody, and is waiting in ernst.

Or has the lot been written off and reshipped already where possible.

    Very interesting scenario to me.

Unreal shot with the part of the roadway still on top of the ship!
