Default Clever storage area for recovery gear

While waiting to have spots fitted, I noticed a Ranger next to me with a neat custom-made storage compartment inside the tail gate. Upon enquiring, the guy said it was custom made in Germany according to his measurements. The whole box is 5mm aluminium and very sturdy. Inside he stores all his recovery gear for easy accessibility. Apparently total cost delivered to his door was around R6K. I don't do enough 4x4 trips to justify one for myself - but I thought it was a neat way of cleverly using current "dead space" and have the equipment immediately available when needed.

They are available locally too. similiar pricing.
It is a clever use of space, not sure if I would use it for recovery gear but in general, a good option.

We had these made for additional storage. This is also "dead space" as you can normally not fit anything wider than the arches.

But this is the ultimate solution.

Would like to see how that holds up on a 2 week Kgalagadi adventure.

The engineering is impressive! Its just not for the African market.

Big Country 4x4 in Boksburg offer a really nice looking tailgate storage conversion. I think it's about R10k.
