Default Posting shared Google Photo Pics?

Forgive me if this is a stupid question:
How do I post CERTAIN pictures taken on my late SWAMBO's device on this forum or in an email for example to other family members or friends?
I use her device because it has a very good camera including a so-called Pro function and also fits into my pocket when out and about.
They do not seem to want to be sent by email to my PC for example.
So I used "Sharing" and shared the pics to myself using my email address. So now they come up under Google as LINKS.
    Confused much?

From the title of your post, I presume you are opening them on Google Photos.

This is what I do, and it seems to work. I sometimes don't want everything on the cloud and want to download a copy to my computer. I have two ways that work:

    1.
    - Open Google Photos on your COMPUTER and log into the account you want to use (your late wife's account?)
    - Select the photos (tick them)
    - Click the three vertical dots on the RHS of the screen and choose "download".
    - a ZIP folder will be created and the photos downloaded to a location of your choice
(you can now unzip them and do whatever you want with them)

    2. (the only way I can seem to do this from my phone):
    - Open Google Photos on your phone (logged into the correct account)
    - Select all the photos you want to download (long press)
    - Choose "Share" and then "Drive"
    - The photos are now added to the Google Drive
    - Open Google Drive and select the photos, which are now files
    - Click the three dots and choose "Download"
-(the photos are now downloaded to your phone and you can do whatever you want with them).

    Agree with antvz

Have you tried accessing the photos directly from the phone's gallery, and then share them from there using email? That is the way I did it from late swambo's phone for individual photos

Thank you both. I will try both methods and see which works better for me.
I actually want to clear her device which seems to have an awful lot of data on it and maybe a virus or three - certainly some irritating ads and possible malware.
However I do not want to loose all the memories pics, and vids on there of our times together.
So want to copy over selected (many) items to my PC and removable backup drive - not too happy with the cloud storage (??), then I want to factory re-set to clear the devices and start using it under my own name rather than buying yet another one!
    Thanks for the tips above.

How about coping them onto a USB memory stick directly from the phone.
Most phones allow the connection of a USB cable to the charge port.

That sharing probably means that your Google account now also has access to the photos and they will be visible when you open your Google Photos. As antvz explained, it is easy enough to download them to your computer, whether you access them from your wife's or your own account.

On a phone there should be more sharing options, i.e. Whatsapp. If you share it outside Google (i.e. not Photos, Drive, or Gmail) it will be downloaded to the phone first and then shared from there. This obviously then takes up storage space on your phone.
