In the UAE the Patrol is the vehicle of choice! The Y61 is still available new in this market, and the V8 Y62 is used by many of the tour operators - awesome vehicles.

    Phixed it for you

I will raise you a bet; The Y62 is more reliable than the LC300 (If this is your main reason for choosing a car)

As a Toyota sheeple/ gnu and iPhone user, I can at least say that the iPhone's battery is gone after a year so getting a new one is a need and not a want.
I recently changed the BFs on the toy, so I am moving out of my comfort zone

    Hi ALL.

Link to all 4x4 trucks/SUB's towing test done in Australia, which is quite informative and, in many ways, a surprise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzCXHYL_R58

If I have a helicopter on standby, and money was no issue....The new Defender
If fuel consumption was no issue.....the Patrol
Which leaves me with the..... Land Cruiser

I think this have always been Toyota's secret; It basically always wins, when looking at the averages, fuel consumption, running cost, reliability, power, 4x4 ability, towing ability, brakes, trade value, luxuries, suspension, ..etc. Some stats could be very bad, whilst other very good.

Your assumption of the consumption is in disfunction.. And.. YOU are not allowed to pick the Toyota!

I imagine being a Toyota owner in South Africa is a bit like being a German Nazi in 1936.

    The brainwashing is virtually unasailable.

Beat-up rat rod of a '96 Nissan Patrol that bears the evidence of many wonderful adventures (and a few stupid indiscretions).

its interesting that on this poll the Patrol is most chosen. My choice but suprised as once you have that incurable toyotalitis people tend to be blinded by reality.

the G is nice, just screams attention to yourself

Grenadier has to prove itself. Landy not really favoured.

Then as toy the raptor is a beast.

I do net see myself desiring any of them actually, Its about practicality. But the patrol is a bit of a dream vehicle, if I really have bucks bothering me.

It's funny how a poll such as this shows what you really want.

    Not driven any of them.

I'm a Nissan fan but that Defender will work for me

I have not seen any u tube channels of anyone using the Nissan for overlanding and that will be my first use.

    Defender it is.

... which leaves New Def as 4*4 of choice

Have seen quite a few Y62`s on overlanding trips. To be honest have seen more Y62 on overland trips than Y61 and Y60.

Saw around three last year in Namibia, two on a recent Kalagadi trip and two December doing the rounds along the West Coast.
