I see anything goes as a filling if i read between the lines.

I believe Fluffy would even try Zoo biscuits as a filling.

I do think you can fill jaffels with any leftover.

I tried with pieces of foil between the sandwhich and the alu maker last night, worked out quite nice .

I use a seasoned cast iron jaffle iron. I seasoned it the same way I seasoned my cast iron pot. I also maintain it the same way as the pot, ie use it, wash it hot water, but do not scour it. Every third time, I would heat it up after having washed it, lightly oil it with vegetable oil and wipe off the excess oil.
I use margarine to spread the bread on the outside, open it from time to time to check for correct browning. This is all standard stuff, but the thing, IMHO, that works the best, is to ensure that your filling does not soak the bread. This is a sure way ending up with stuff getting stuck to the iron.

Right, had I tried a Jaffel iron pre-1994, I am convinced that my citizenship would have been revoked.

I bought a Jaffel iron, circa 2020, the 3 Jaffel type. Used it once and swore never again. I didnt burn the Jaffels, but the bread stuck to the iron itself and created a hang of a mess. I buttered the outside of the bread as one might for a toasted. So what is the best method for preventing Jaffels from sticking. I want to give it a go again today.

My Mom told me to never scrub the inside of a jaffle pan.
Only wash with water and a bit of dish soap and rinse in clean water, the outside you can scrub.
Bit of Spray and Cook and butter on the outside bread.
And used the cast alu one, not the press metal ones

Same goes for Waffle pan.
Spray and Cook works well plus you need some cooking oil in the dough and it must be slightly running.
We use flapjack mix (off the shelf packed), add one extra egg, more milk, bit of oil and thin with water till consistency is 100%
Got new pan a few years a go and because it was new scrubbed inside - everything sticks.
Next session took about 8-10 waffles before the perfect one popped out.
Don't scrub inside and use the cast alu one.

Made same mistake with pancake pan, only wipe inside with soapy wet cloth and then rinse off.
Had to by new one about 5 years ago as the old pan (Hart) was what we used as a kid, guess about 60 years old - now part of our collection of things we grew up with.

Suggest you make small amount of filling and taste first before making large numbers - some may love it outhres not
There are some with lots of green stuff inside, not for me.

Ever tried;
a. cold left over old type cooked green beans with potatoes and onions
b. chees, tomato, onions and partly fried egg - you fry the egg before in pan just till the white is not running any more
c. chutney and chees
d. cold cooked potatoes in slices, with slice of ham and mustard sauce or substitute the ham with soft baked/cooked bacon must just be done.
e. baked beans and avocado - for the baked bean lovers, add some mayonnaise and small amount of curry for different taste - or baked beans, bit of curry, chopped unions
f. left over potato salad
g. mushroom and plenty cheddar chees, careful to over fill as they cook out if to long on the fire
h. chicken, mince, steak cut in small pieces with what ever left overs you can find - solutions is plenty/mind boggling actually.

We sometimes prepare at home a few and put in the fridge, nice snack along the road or on a hike.
Just completed lunch, nou hungry again

Today was Lunch at my Daughters,
S I L cooked
Granpa hid Easter eggs, and the had to find them again...

We had to do the dessert
So
Missus and I made a coconut ice cream
Then we had Hot Cross Buns
(from Woolies, where a lot of our wives have shares)
The buns get cut in half and lightly buttered, then a marshmallow Easter egg gets closed into the bun, I have a smaller jaffel iron that these then get heated in, and are served with Ice Cream
