So, maybe tomorrow; ''Jaffel Iron, used twice'', along with a Fly Fishing Net I bought 30 odd years ago and have never had to use. Maybe, buy the Net and get a free Jaffel Iron

Thanks again guys, for all the tips and pointers. My daughter, Attila The Honey, suggests Mayo on the outside
I dont see mention of a fishing rod, maybe thats why the net is unused.

Last night I poked a gammon and an eisbein on the spit. Gas connected, meat seasoned the lot. Only to realise my spit motor is already packed.

    We all have our challenges.

The rods are used to create the illusion of fishing. The net merely provides a delusion of catching.

Brown bread also has a tendency to stick..

I bought a Jaffel iron, circa 2020, the 3 Jaffel type. Used it once and swore never again. I didnt burn the Jaffels, but the bread stuck to the iron itself and created a hang of a mess. I buttered the outside of the bread as one might for a toasted. So what is the best method for preventing Jaffles from sticking. I want to give it a go again today.
Just like with pancakes, your first one is likely to be the most problematical, so don't become disheartened too quickly.

Preheat the iron over the flame. Spray and cook vigorously just before putting the jaffles in.
You aren't blow torching them, you want to heat the contents through, so the flame doesn't shouldn't be too high.
Make sure they are buttered all the way to the edges on the outside. This is a mistake a lot of people make.
Cut off the excess as soon as you have squeezed the iron shut.
Turn regularly so both the iron heats evenly on both sides.
Do not open the jaffle iron to peek constantly. This is one of the ways you improve sticking. When you think the jaffle is ready, open the lid. The jaffle should release easily. If it doesn't, it probable needs a little longer. (Note there is a difference between the jaffle not releasing and a bit of escaped stuffing caramelizing and not wanting to release.)
If some stuffing escaped it can leak into the iron or run along the seal and create a struggle to release.
Flip the iron over on the plate and plop out the jaffle.
If you have sticking problems, please don't use your knife or a fork to stab or scrape it out. You will create a worse problem going forward.
If you have crumbs or escaped bits, clean the iron properly until it is clean again. Heat, repeat whole cycle. If easy released previous round, heat slightly, spray and cook vigorously repeat.

Don't overstuff, so the jaffle can seal properly.
I'm not a fan of spray and cook, and rarely use it. But this is one place where I don't think one can really escape it unless you have a really good iron.

Lady, Gentlemen. A result, thanks to you. The Jaffel Iron wont be on the Make me an Offer fred, only the Fishing Net. It lives for another day.

Spray and Cook (Olive) and then Cannola oil brushed on outer surfaces of the bread.

No stick. I wont wash the iron.

Heat was low, took awhile, but I got there in the end.

    Thanks again

    Filling, kerk kerrie en kaas.

There is no accounting for bad taste.

And I am referring to the sensory aspect, the tongue tip test, not the social/moral version.

I can think of no worse foul smelling and tasting oil for cooking than Cannola oil.

When I smell it I want to puke.

In all my food prep experience, if using Spray & Cook or equivalent on any baking trays/pans, braai grids, jaffel irons sandwich toasters. etc....
    Use it on cold impliments,
    Before you've heated them
    Why
Because when all else fails READ the instructions,/directions and see what they say...

I make up a pot of savory mince for when we travel long distances, mince, onion, tin or two of chopped tomatoes, fresh garlic, tin of whole kernel corn, some herbs. So that we can stop anywhere and eat. Don't be shy on the Spray and Cook. I spray for every new jaffel.
